Questions, so I'll know better in the future...
Am I not offering enough, or are these accessories simply not to be had? Or is it that it's wisest to not ever sell these if you do acquire them?

If someone could let me know, I'd really appreciate it(lest I show my noobishness later on, again, as I did when I posted looking for "Level 60+ Accessories").

I think it's just that people don't really hold on to lvl 40 epics. End game you're just looking for lvl 50 legendaries and mythics - or maybe some level 60 legendary if they come out with the fest bosses.

Can I ask why you are looking for lvl 40 epics?

And, sure! I have several pets that are levels 40-44, and I'm running them through the game for the XP. I know better than to hope for Legendary accessories from the Trades, but I had thought there'd be a few Epics.

Well there are lots of Legendary items in trades - just mostly for lvls 25 and 50 (for the arenas!) There's just not a lot of demand for lvl 40 stuff, so I just chuck it out for the gold. If I run across any today though I'll send it your way.

When I'm leveling pets I tend to just pair them with someone a bit higher level and well geared, until they can get to 50 and wear the lvl 50 gear I have stashed away. Until then they just get to wear whatever I pick up.

Yeah, I've been doing the same, but I particularly like this pet, and was hoping to give him a better chance at survival in the higher level areas.
Wait, arena...? Are you referring to the different areas(Esior's Haven/Sanctuary of Sarielle(sp?) fights/searching for items/dungeon fights), or is there an arena where players' pets can fight each other?

In Ethernia there is an arena where you can fight bosses for arena marks. You can spend arena marks on good gear, Nyvenes, and avatar items. There is a whole forum section dedicated to it!

It is divided into lvl 25 arena and lvl 50 arena, and this is why people buy those potions that stop your pet from gaining experience ;)

*facepaw* I don't spend a lot of time in the forums, so I hadn't even noticed it O.O

No problem! I've finished the lvl 25 arena, and I'm halfway through the lvl 50 arena so if you have any questions feel free to message me! You'll definitely want to get into dungeon running for the legendary and mythical drops if you decide to do the arena as well ;-) That's a whole other forum section!

Ooh! I hadn't realized that was how you could get the mythical items(I figured it was just avatar items).
Hmm, so are the arena fights more pokemon-style, then?
