I've noticed this a few times in hatchlings, and finally I've figured out the cause. When a male hatchling Griffi has the tiger gene, the faded segment on the body from color 3 (the beak) is seen on the wings, rather than on the body. It also seems to show just a bit on the tail, and also shows up regardless of wing color - unless the colors match - as displayed below.
