I was in a battle with the sweet apple theme nixi got it to around 1k health using only quick attacks. then only used skip turns for 5 turns while attempting to catch with trap. when i got an end battle screen i thought it ran but then i saw it say "sweet apple zolnixi killed/defeated sweet apple zolnixi". i asked in chat for advice but nothin applied like reflect should have happen since only quick attack and skip turns were used.
I lost 6 epic traps to this. is this a new feature or a bug? Do we now have to worry about themes self destruction?

This happened to me during summer fest! Unfortunately Krin wasnt able to help me then because I didnt have any screenshots (since I didnt exactly expect to have to take them) and I wasnt able to reproduce it either :(
My bug report, if you'd like to see
Still not quite sure what happened since I know I would only click quick attack if it had enough health to take it, and definitely wouldnt have done so if it only had 1.2k health (which would've been enough to kill it) so really weird, yeah.

I had one not kill itself, but harm itself with one of it's move while it was fighting me
So it's possible some moves they use, also damage the user and could possibly kill itself?
Because I damage up to a certain point, then just skip while throwing traps, I never use anything fancy to hit them because my luck is they get per-turn-damage slapped to them or one of my pet just crit the Themed.
I think the attack was something like "Combusting"(?), didn't thought about taking any screenshot at that moment :o

Unfortunately, this is definitely something I will need to see the exact battle log on to even have a sliver of chance of figuring it out. The code for ending a turn is over 10,000 lines.
If this happens and you can screenshot or copy/paste the entire battle log of what happened, it would greatly help me to pinpoint where exactly to look.

Unfortunately I did not know this was a reoccurring thing so I did not take a screenshot. I wanted to share that the log said something similar to Sheechwan about "Autumn Pond Kelp used Combusting!" and then said that it had defeated itself, when it just happened to me.

Just a theory. I can't seem to replicate this even if I try (never would have thought that my inner monologue would be shouting, "Stop going in the net!!!!") and I'm only guessing on how the battle system actually works. BUT...
Since player turns are being skipped when trying to capture the pet, could this be a targeting problem from the enemy pet?
Like if the enemy pet last targeted itself with an ability like healing or a shield, and it hasn't been attacked by the player to alter its targeting priority, could it then choose itself as a target again with a damaging ability?
The recurring thing I notice in the more detailed reports is that turns are being skipped, so it makes me think this may have something to do with how the enemy pet chooses its target for abilities.

The system doesn't remember 'last target', so that wouldn't be it.
If it's tied to Combusting, that helps me at least be able to look in a specific area. In the code, basically every action is denoted by either a 1 or a 2. One being for something done to your pets, the other being something done to the enemies.
If I had to guess based on the information here, I probably copied the code for Combusting for regular pets and then forget to switch the 1 to a 2 - or something to that effect.
