The usual way is that you can find them during the bigger festivals as drops from named bosses of which the Summer Festival will start next month for example!

There are also various other ways, during the current Patriotic Festival you can obtain them from Sylestian Service Rewards (check out the Fest Overview Post for information on those!)

Otherwise it might be worth checking out the trade broker for people selling some for gold, albeit they might be a bit pricy for someone just starting out.

I sent you a couple items as little welcome presents, maybe you like them :)

I didn't see a way to break into the event without buying a ticket from the cash shop. How do I start the event? And thanks so much for the items. I really appreciate them!

Ah that's true, most of the event is happening in the Lost Grove, which is the endgame area! But I believe you can start doing some tasks and advancing through the ranks already by defeating enemies in Astryl's Vale, and while that is still a bit into the story of Sylestia, it's a little sooner than LG :D

there will likely be a lot of patriotic event avatar items showing up in the broker as people get repeats of items they have already gotten.
Aside from that and the seasonal festivals, you can get some avatar items as drops from non-sylesti enemies, and others can be bought from the town shops (exactly what is available to you depends on your reputation with the town. Reputation can be obtained from things like plot progression and doing Missions (can link a guide if you would like. Missions are also a good way to make gold and get equipment))

I chucked over some gear you can put on GlitteryGreens
As a Water element, she would do best with Assassin gear, which focuses on Strength and Agility, to increase move effectiveness, defence, and evasion.

PooflePink does not have an element assigned currently so I don't know what gear he'd need

Team setups are usually (once you unlock Umbra Forest, where you can buy your third pet slot at Sanctuary of Saerielle) Tank (earth, water, shadow), Healer (light), Attacker (fire, air)
Physical/ strength elements are Earth, Water, Air (use Assassin gear (tank, str/agi), or myrmidon (Attacker, str/dex) preferentially)
Magical/ intelligence elements are shadow, light, fire (use Illusionist (tank, sometimes healer, int/agi) or evoker (attackers, usual for healer, int/dex)

Thanks for your indepth post. I will have to assign something to Poofie. I kind of thought that they came with something when you caught them in the wild.

Just curious though, wouldn't a water mage do better with int gear? Or is it somehow different than dnd rules? cos when i was reading the info, it did not suggest water to be a tank, but a caster class.

We did go over it quickly but more detail:
In sylestia, each element is aligned either with Strength/Physical or with Intelligence/Magical, the party position is determined by what the element excels at.
(Think pokemon gens1-3, if that helps, where physical vs special was based on type not the individual moves)

Earth, Water, and Air are all Str/Phys aligned elements- offensive prof point assignment boosts Strength.
These pets use their Physical Damage Stat for calculating move output, and do not use Magical Damage Stat at all.

Shadow, Light, and Fire are the Int/Mag aligned elements- offensive prof point assignment boosts Intelligence.
Vice-versa from the Physical elements, these three elements use the Magical Damage Stat for move calculation, and do not use the Physical Damage Stat at all

Water is primarily used as a Tank class (slot 1, takes damage, protects teammates), becoming capable as a team Buffer only at later levels (with water, tank+buffer can overlap- its ice sphere/ice barrier allowing it to shield the team, and those shields healing the pets when attacks hit the shield. Tidal surge, the lv65 move, raises the team's mitigation). Once water is at lv75 and gets access to its final move which allows it to increase party mana generation)
People in the endgame often use a water/attacker/attacker team setup, since water can cover team defence and healing once it's lv75 and has had its attacks ranked a bit.

Equipping a water pet with Int gear would raise its int, and thus its Magical Damage, which Water, being a Physical element, doesn't use at all
using my Munir as a quick example, his attacks calculate based off of his Phys. Damage stat- which is 2,573.
If I replaced all his equips with Int-focused gear, his Phys Damage stat would drop to 1,073 and his Magical Damage would rise to 1,697*, and he would now just be using a sub-optimal 1,073 for his attack calculation.
(* It's lower than his phys damaged because his two offense proficiency points go to his Strength and thus his Phys.Damage stat, because he's a Physical-type element.)

Ah that's completely not what I expected lol ty for the info. Good comparison to pokemon, I am well familiar to the pokebattle scene. Are there any kind of guides or more info to read? I have all these advancement points that I can't seem to use. Oh and is there a way to change the color of the journal? White text on beige background is impossible to read lol.
