Howdy! I've been on the site a while, and have a couple projects I've done, but not much luck in the way of selling them. Is there a specific way I should be advertising, or some technique to know which pets are in demand? It seems like there are so many pets, but not a whole lot of demand for them- pet sell prices are rock bottom, and honestly not profitable for the amount of time and effort put in. What do y'all suggest?

To be honest, in my experience, if you're breeding to make money then don't. Even if you are breeding max stats, its just a fact that very few people will be interested in your project (due to the species, the theme, or the colours)
Of course some species are more popular than others, and if you have a particularly rare theme or nice colour scheme then you may get some more interest!
It sounds harsh but people only tend to buy pets if they are themed, or nice colours that they like, or max stats (or even super stats these days). In addition, because of the sheer number of pets and forum posts it can be hard to get them out there - even if there are people who may be interested in them, they may never actually know they exist.
It's much easier just to go into the lost grove and grind a bit for money than to put in the months of effort for breeding projects. You really just have to do it for the love of the game unfortunately.
I have several completed 6V themed vulnyx projects and I think that I've only ever sold around 2 or 3 offspring from each pair at most, with some pairs only selling one offspring in total.
I have had some success in using my completed projects as bargaining chips for buying other people's projects or themed sometimes though so that's definitely something to consider if you're in to collecting other people's projects as well!
I hope that my rambling made sense and again this is just my experience so I'd love to hear from other people! But yes the pet market at the moment is very difficult :/

Thank you for your input! I am not looking to make gold out of it necessarily, I'm just a bit disheartened. It's not even that I've not bred themed pets- I have plenty!- but that no one seems to want them, like you mentioned. I'd love to see the projects you're most proud of! You're right that things tend to get buried.

Just to add on! Most 6-vis, although they take a lot of time and effort and are often very pretty, don't necessarily hold a lot of value. If you're buying a 6-vis, you're buying a pet for a collection or a fancy stable ornament (which is something I like to do :D)!! The money invested in buying a 6-vis, may be better spent on a tagged pet of some kind, that will likely grow in value over time. Which makes it hard to make any substantial amount of gold off of 6-vis pets.
Maxes are a lot more profitable! I think more people can justify spending their gold on maxes, because they're both pretty and useful. And although the market has maxes up from prices between 200k-400k, I still have sold quite a few maxes for 300k over the recent months! As Charlie said, if nothing else, they're a great bargaining chip for trades!!
In general, a lot of people do like projects and enjoy seeing them progress! I think having a regularly updated project thread, documenting what projects you have and where you are in the process, is a great place to start! Although it may not look like it, a lot of people take the time to look through project threads, it gives people a way to see what projects they may be interested in! To follow that, having a sales thread for your projects is a great idea too! A lot of people like to conduct sales through Pms, if you keep bumping a sales thread to the top, it may catch people's interest! <3
^^ Just as an additional thought, linking a project thread and a sales thread to your profile makes it super easy to see all the things you've made! :D
I think I make the least sales from having projects for sale on the broker, most of my project-based income comes from trades and from people messaging me! So something like a project thread might be quite helpful!
I think a good starting point might be to look at the projects that you may have purchased! What price points did you buy them at? Was it because of the theme or the traits? Where did you see them advertised?
Try not to get too disheartened! Your projects are lovely! :)

Thank you very much! I've been thinking I needed to do some kind of post, but never worked up the courage, haha. I'll definitely look at what you suggested!
Most projects I purchased off the broker at random, because I happened to like the colors. Almost none were the super fancy variety or some kind of max pet- the few max pets I own I either bred myself or bought at a steep discount due to the colors and traits being random and muddled. It's what inspired my max project in the first place- The muddy Nyvene I have are either for a secret project I'm working on, or max pets I have to sell at a super low price to newcomers trying to make it through the grove (I, myself, struggle with the grove.. it's not an easy task!).

Omg reading over my reply now sounds sooo harsh I'm so sorry >.<
I didn't mean to be discouraging! As Bug said, having a forum thread is definitely useful! I often find myself scrolling through people's project threads to see if there are any nice projects I want to buy/ keep an eye on
Just keep breeding the projects that you're interested in and you will find your niche / customers :)

You weren't harsh at all, just realistic, which I appreciate! I'm just glad to get a response. Thank you for taking the time to talk!
