It begins and ends in streams of ichor. It is the beginning because for the first time in eternity, a man has walked up the stairs to heaven and slain the divine, and it is the ending because the immortals are not many things, but they are powerful. And when their bloods drips down from the skies above, their power pollutes the earth, the water, and all those destined to live and die upon it.

But fate is a cyclic thing. The world begins and ends together, and then it repeats, born again from the ash, the corruption, the marrow. It continues for a few years, a few centuries, a few eternities, and then it ends again in drops of crimson and gold and oil-slick black.

After all, people are creatures of faith, so there must always be gods, and people are creatures of freedom, so there must always be ones to slay them.

In this cycle, though, the heavens seem just a little kinder than most. After all, the divine have bestowed gifts upon the people in the forms of their Scions, humans blessed with magic, and the guidance of man upon man has brought the world through every storm. For once, the death of the gods has been averted thirty years prior, and though the world has ended, it was by nothing but the simple whimsies of mankind, leaving humanity still standing in its last stronghold--the city in the clouds, Edith.

Yet when the heavens fall silent again, and their gifts begin to flicker, will the Scions be able to solve the mysteries behind the divine and shatter the cycle as word of a second Godslayer sweeps through the world above and the ruins below?

RULES
1. If you ever feel uncomfortable with something or get into a conflict with another player, DM me so that we can discuss the issue.
2. Ask for permission before injuring or killing someone's characters.
3. This is meant to be a slow-paced roleplay, likely with each player posting once a week. However, there is no set reply schedule, so participants are free to take longer and respond whenever they have the time to without the pressure of deadlines.
4. Players may have up to two characters.

NOTES
1. The gods have informed the Scions about the beginning, ending, and repeat of the world that is currently occurring.
2. Scions may have nonhuman features as a result of their magic, and they gain rings of light for accomplishing deeds they consider both noteworthy and noble.
3. There has already been one Godslayer in this cycle. Twenty years ago, a Scion who led many of the other youthful Scions in a revolt against the heavens, only to be stopped by the teamwork of the older Scions and the heavens. Thus, there are very few Scions who are in their 40s-50s, most older or younger.
4. The earth below Edith has been left in desolate ruins as the result of a war, and it is thought to be empty.
