Are there any tricks/methods for defeating the Crystalline Behemoth?


Should I also try to find someone who is doing gear/pet loans?

And yes, it might be a good idea to have better/upgraded gear for this fight or to borrow higher-ranked pets from someone if it'd make you feel more confident you can defeat the Crystalline Behemoth that way.
It's also a good idea to have your Barracks built if you don't already so you have access to boss buffs, and Ent Flasks.
Training Grounds is what gives you an advantage with different enemies(Such as bosses), and the Trading Post is where you can buy Ent Flasks(The kind you can buy depends on how much of your trading post has been upgraded).
The Blacksmith's Station is where you can upgrade or make new gear.

Woerm beating teams thread contains links to esveral guides, though Draculina has linked three of the four already by the looks of it. The thread's main purpose is just giving a quick view of some of teams that have beaten the Woerm so a person can say "okay, the woerm has been beaten with this element setup" or get an idea of strategies people used when beating the Woerm and issues they had,
Several people who posted did use borrowed teams, so you could check to see if the team loaners still do that.
Also gives an idea of what general gear sets were early on and thus are still possible (since the thread's mostly from before Primordial gear was very available and Stoneweave was much more difficult to get)
