Not sure why she didn't feed my party pets but fed everyone else. Or rather why my party pets are hungry.

You can check your Stable Log to see what happened.
Most likely, you did not have enough Gold to cover the cost.

I have plenty of gold. The only thing I can imagine is that I put them in the party yesterday when everyone was hungry (I forgot to rehire) and when they were fed today the party pets didn't get fed for some reason.

Your Stable Log will tell you what happened. What does it say for yesterday?

Ah. I had missed the part where you initially said only your party pets were unfed. My apologies.
This is actually an intended feature. When your pets are in your party, they are considered to be with you - not in your Stables. So they do not have their hunger reduced and they are not fed by your Stablehand. You will have to either manually feed them or remove them from your party to have them get fed back up to max.
