So this has been onccurring but i've brushed it off as me being frustrated. But.

On and off this event the bosses seem to be having extremely variable damage ranges. They'll be hitting like a nerf dart one battle and a speeding truck the next battle.

I brushed it off but a few days ago I rage quit cause mary toadstool was chunking 50% off my tank every few turns and ate 10ish potions. Today i returned and it took her about 20 something turns(when she was almost dead) to remember she could do that and then she did it once.

This is extremely frustrating as I bought potions under the belief there was "a" stronger boss than normal. (mini temple boss.) but consistently I keep running into the bosses being variable.

It's really weird when ryu(the boss in the mini temple) hits like wet paper and then i get steamrolled by an early boss in the zone. Or flip side said boss hits like wet paper then hits like a truck. I've bought 60+ potions and 40+ revives because of this.

Also. in a battle with the red and black samurai hat boss I had four 20%/10% revives and five 40%/20% revives (or vice versa) next turn i had none.

I have a lvl 60 shadow/light/wind team with lost grove gear and stats distributions that have stayed the same since someone helped me fix em. I have not switched pets this whole time. I always go into bosses with max mana.

Is something ACTUALLY going on?

I feel like I've also experienced this. There have been moments where I was confused by how strong certain bosses were, after easily defeating them before. One example is Britney Spurs. Sometimes she's extremely easy; other times she's so strong she almost faints my light pet.

Actually, I think this has happened with common enemies, too. I'll find myself fighting a group of random bandits in Astryl's Meadow and questioning if one of my team members isn't wearing their gear (because I seem to be doing much less damage).

I noticed that as well but chalked it up to using a lvl 60 unranked team instead of my standard lvl 75 pets. I think part of that is they have so much HP you can't quite see the actual amount but then you look over and your pets have done a combined...what? 2k in damage for one turn? when you see em consistently hitting 5k+....

This isn't really a bug. The 'older' exploration code has much more significant swings on enemy stats. Every enemy has a baseline, but then it rolls a bunch of numbers behind the scenes to add some RNG to the final numbers. At lower levels, which these systems were built for many many years ago, the swing isn't that big. Maybe it has 6,000 Health instead of 4,000. However, at higher levels, it can now put a big swing on the final results adding a hundred thousand, or more, Health - or hundreds more Strength, etc.

It probably is not an ideal system and I largely went away from it with the Lost Grove. But it technically is how the system is coded.

Oof. It's good to know that it isn't a bug. I did wonder why when I ran away and restarted the battle it often was easier.. Still a bit frustrating to waste so many potions before finding out.

Thank you for this info, krin! I'll just restart battles when it decides to roll a super boss.
