So I play a lot of Pokemon and one thing I really love is the XP share. XP share lets your non-active Pokemon gain experience after battles. I think it'd be really cool if we had something similar to that on here. You could have your pets sitting in a stable, but still gaining XP. It might be hard to implement it for all your pets, considering a lot of users have thousands of pets, but maybe you could only add it to a certain number pets. Maybe only three at a time? Some users may not like it, but you could always have the option to not use it.

id be cool if there was like a piece of equipment you could put on certain pets to either help them rank or gain exp from your active party. ^^

You mean like Missions? Getting exp while a pet isn't on the party is what missions do. They can't do attack rank exp obviously, but that's six whole pets you can have gaining exp off-party at once, so long as you're remembering to send them off and collect them.
A pet gets 143,500exp for Exceptional completion of a lv50/Very Hard mission, which is only a little less than a lv70 exp orb gives, and I assume this is mostly about getting pets to lv75?
(the exp gap from just starting lv60 to hitting 75 is 37,594,066exp, equivalent of 261 exceptional lv50 mission payouts (~131 days worth of sending them on missions, if you're doing two missions with them a day.) That is quite a bit, but if you aren't using the pet, well, no real loss? Just missiony gains)
(doing lv50/very hards also isn't the optimal way to do it- for example, one lv45/hard pays out 92,500exp. Two lv50s a day gets you 287,000 exp. Four lv45s gets 370,000exp)
(rank grinding, unfortunately, will remain a deliberate chore. I don't know how the people who rank pets for money have the patience, even with the temple's rank exp payouts and expedient learning philters. It would be nice to be able to send the move rank exp that my team is gaining to pets that could use it, but that would defeat the meaning of the rank exp, I think? (it's grinding the meaning is grinding))

from what i understand the original poster was talking about a mechanic similar to what is in pokemon, where you have a pet that does the fighting and the experience is either split, transferred, or equally given to something that is not fighting. missions are a little different because the pet both has a chance to fail if they arent a high enough level and needs to meet a requirement in order to do the mission, this would be they would gain experience without either factor mattering.

I know missions do that, what I suggested would be something different from missions. Missions take a significant amount of time, which I know is the point. Level 50 missions take 12 hours in order to get the XP, versus with XP share, you could get it within twenty minutes of battling in the lost grove. Your pet would be gaining XP significantly faster than it would if you were sending it on missions.
Ranking is completely different and I know that, I'm only saying it would be cool to apply it to leveling. Like Yurei said, it could be a piece of equipment you apply to certain pets, and to make it less common for players to have, it could be a diamond shop item similar to the expedient learning philter.
Mission would be the ideal way for people to level pets they aren't using, since they're free, but it would take more time. If users wanted a faster, more expensive way, they could use the XP share item.
