Base stats range from the wild nonfabled range (generally in the 10-12 range for Str/Int/Dex/Agi with some outliers) up to max stat (2000 HP / 200 mana / 100 str/int/dex/agi), with additional Wild/Grove stats (the + numbers)
A pet's base stats are completely fixed as soon as it becomes an adolescent
When breeding, a pet will inherit stats from the range between the parents' stats (eg, pet1 has 20 str, pet2 has 23, baby could have 20, 21, 22, or 23)
When hatching an Eggling, you get the options in a popup to (paraphrasing) "help it hatch", which gets it +20 HP, "let it hatch on its own", for +1 to one of str/int/dex/agi, at random, or use a Stat Philter from your inventory, which will, well, apply that philter
As a hatchling, every 8 correct nurtures a pet gets will give it +1 to its lowest stat (cutting off the last digit of HP to compare it to str/int/dex/agi, eg, pet with 280 HP will be counted as having 28)
However, mana does not get added to unless all other stats are maxed.
Wild-caught pets will have the lowest base stats available in that species (3 and 4 star pets from regions 1+2 may have slightly higher, but only by a few points, though mana is higher by +20 for each star)
Wild/Grove stats are only available from pets caught in the lost grove*
These stat have certain ranges they can fall into based on the rarity of the pet (the stats are random for each individual within that stat range), with the lowest being Uncommon Unthemed (example) and the very highest being Legendary and Mythical Themed (example)
(surpassed only by the six Elemental rikki themes that can only be dropped by Vexxar (example) but currently none of them are even old enough to breed)
* (and pets descended from those Grove pets, though there's a slight drop in the stats each generation removed from the grove pet. The grove stats first check if it's a case of a pet with a grove stat being crossed with a +0, or two pets with grove stats being crossed. if only one parent has a grove stat, it'll just apply the generational drop, of both, it will do the "parent1 has x, parent2 has y, pick number between" thing of regular stats THEN apply the generation drop)
Under 20 is low, 50 is middling, 70-85 is pretty good, 86-99 very good, and 100 is max (note that these aren't like. community codified brackets, just me sorta wiggling my hand and generalizing)
stats that surpass 100 via base+grove are superstat, though the term is usually used as another term for the...
100+grove stats are supermax, obviously with the higher grove stats being sought after and typically fetching rather hefty prices (example of a supermax with pretty okay + stats, though the hp, mana, and dex are quite low)
Though many people go for the maxes and supermaxes, it is possible to use pets with lower tier stats- my own main team falls into that 'pretty good' stat range (sitting at the 78-80 range) and I'm able to beat Vexxar, the strongest boss in the game, using them (one of just three people so far)
With pet building (eg, sylesti ice sculpting) you can keep the sculpt well tended to get bonuses, which is a +10 stat boost for bonus 1/2 for regular+fabled, while majestics get an additional +10 with their 2/2 bonus (reg/fables get a random extra carry for 2/2)
Also, boosts, to a max of 4 (using frosty fairy dust in this fest, for example), gives +5 for each, to a total of +20
Compare the stats of this board aur (only boost is +20 to hp from my choice when hatching and nurtures) with this sculpt aur (which has the 1/2 bonus, plus 4/4 boost, and +1 to a random stat)
So:
Breeding- Yes, but it does require the inclusion of philters and/or nurtures
Events- if you count things like sylesti sculpting as an event, yeah
Lucky wild encounters- yes, in the case of lost grove pets. |
