Are AP also experience points?
If so, mine aren't getting added properly.

AP are not experience points, they're Advancement points, a currency (hence why they're with the Gold and Scales in the display bars)

You get them for playing on the site- things like winning battles, doing Missions, doing Quests/Tasks, Breeding pets, Nurturing pets.

once you pass 10k AP for the first time you unlock the ability to hire a stablehand

AP currently are used for Buying wardrobe base items, buying more generator design save slots, and buying more party preset save slots.

AP are capped at 100k, because Krinadon does intend to make an AP shop (other things have just been taking priority)

Players do not get experience points- player level is based entirely on the highest level a pet has grown to while on the player's account

Scath already answered your first question on how to get AP.

"You get them for playing on the site- things like winning battles, doing Missions, doing Quests/Tasks, Breeding pets, Nurturing pets."

As far as trading clothing, it depends on what you mean by that. The default clothing, like what you're wearing right now, cannot be sold (or even removed from the wardrobe). Everyone has the same default clothing so there'd be no point anyway. There are just a few other outfits you can unlock in the wardrobe using AP and even more wardrobe items that change your eyes/hair/nose/etc.

There are also avatar items that you CAN buy from other players. The vast majority of outfits in your wardrobe have to either be found by exploring, bought from the site, bought from other players, or found during a fest. Most of these can be sold but there are a small few that are untradeable.

Just another tip to add to the Trade Clothing question.

Like has been said, quite a few "Avatar Items" are tradable. The way you can tell if they are tradable is by hovering over the item while it is in your inventory. The top, right side of the box of info that pops up on those items when hovering your mouse over them will say weather it is tradable or not. That way you'll know if you can post them for sale in the Trade Broker.
