When I enter a name for a pet on mobile that is between 3-25 characters, and click set name, I get the error message pet names must be between 3-25 characters.

I tested this on my mobile device and it worked as intended.
Is there a specific name that you are trying to enter that is being rejected?

Are you making sure to press "Name Pet" instead of hitting the enter button? If you hit enter it won't save the name. :)
Edit: Oops realized that you said you click set name after posting. :'D

On mobile, I tried to name this pet CupidsA nn'nn'KK'II'KK'nK, and got the error message.
On my laptop, I successfully named this pet CupidsA nn'nn'nK'II'KK'nK, which is only one character different (an n instead of a K).
Maybe mobile doesn't like apostrophes? Or maybe on mobile, pet names have to be less than 25 characters, rather than up to 25 characters?

The code on the site is the same regardless of how you are submitting it. However, your mobile device probably uses a different charset than your PC does. I know specifically that the ' and " characters have this issue.
So, most likely, your mobile device is submitting the ' as a different character than your PC is and the code is interpreting them differently.

I can confirm that mobile doesn't like " ' ". Anytime I'm on mobile and I type those they ALL disappear. xD

Ah, I see. Is there any way for the site to recognise those mobile versions of characters and turn them into the characters it understands? Or is that trickier to implement than one might expect?

Probably. But for pet naming, probably not until the Pet Profile page is revamped.
