So, I got this cool as heck leather book that's meant to be a diary of some sorts... and I had the brilliant idea...
What if I made a bestiary with it?
I want the people who wish to reply to this thread to give me some monster/creature ideas. I currently have three entries, and have maybe a hundred or two to fill. Names are also appreciated, and I'll send the images of my doodles as we go.
Cheers!
-Necto, but no one knows me lmao

Sorry for the late response, but of course!
For the earlier entries, I wanted to do more weaker and lesser creatures, but at the middle and end are the more... powerful ones.

that sounds so cool! ok, so for the ones i have i don't know if you would consider them weak or powerful compared to the others in your bestiary but you can put them wherever you want in the book
Faoladh: this is sort of the irish take on the werewolf, but it is someone who can turn into a wolf at will, not bound by the cycles of the moon. to do so, they go into the forest and take off their clothes and then shift. they are able to be both helpful and harmful but tend to lean more to the helpful side.
Fae/Faerie: Dangerous and most times cruel Fae are known for playing tricks on lost humans or humans that wander too close to them. The have the ability to shapeshift and are able to steal people by taking their names.
Lechuza: the lechuza is an owl witch found in mexico. Lechuza are almost exclusively female and take the form of the barn own (a bad omen) or a half owl half woman creature. she only comes at night and will mimic the cry of a baby to lure you outside before dragging you to your death.
Changling: the child of a fae swapped out with a humans child in order to grow. the changling does not have the powers of the fae but are known to cause trouble and being very good at following patterns and rythm.
if you need any more info on them let me know, this is just a brief overview!

Are the monsters your looking for perhaps myths that are already in existence, or can it be a completely self-created monster that can't be found on any mythological creature websites or scary monsters YouTube videos?
I'd be happy to pitch in a few ideas either way since I enjoy reading over mythological beasts and in some cases create my own either for stories or just purely for entertainment ^^

Preferably ones of your own creation, but if its heavily jnspired by mythology, I'd gladly accept it.

I'm sorry for the super late response, I'll probably ping you with more at a later time as well ^^
Kinatakutan Characteristics: A beast drawn towards energy. It feeds off of the life energy of humans and other life forms. You'll know it's approaching once you hear a Tik Tik sound growing louder. If you've heard that noise, it's already too late to run as it has already gotten a taste of your life energy and has no plans of letting you escape undrained. Those caught by the creature are later found, a shriveled husk no different from a dried up raisin.
Appearance: This creature is similar in stature to a wingless, hairless bat, only human-sized. It has large gaping eyes, a haggard face, & jagged sharp limbs with arms that stretch far past its knees (Similar to a monkeys arm length).
Mavet Khatool (Hebrew words for Death Cat)
Characteristics: This felines objective is to steal eyes, but the reason is unknown. What is known is that all of it's victims are found uninjured and completely unscathed other than the fact that they no longer have eyes. This cat lures in it's victims with sweet innocent calls that sound like that of an average house cats but as it approaches it's prey, it's mewls turn into bloodcurdling shrieks instead. Upon making contact with this mythical being, the victim will feel a sudden sense of dread and fear before they begin to shake and fall to their knees as intense waves of fear cause their legs to buckle beneath them. By the time the cat has accomplished it's task, the victim is left with gaping black holes in place of where their eyes used to be and in most cases, mental trauma due to their body responding to the crippling stress and fear from the encounter.
Appearance: This being is described as a large black cat (Similar in size to a large Maine Coon) with a contorted twisted body. It's neck is twisted around so that it is facing backwards and it has bones jutting out of it's legs and neck where they have been forced out of place and left cracked and broken. It's eyes are pitch black hollow holes and it's fur is torn and mangled. It is said that as it approaches it's victims it snaps it's head back on right to properly face them before it steals their eyes.

I love creating and learning about disturbing/strange monsters so here's a few:
Wendigo: From the mythology of Canadian tribes, Wendigo are spirits which take over humans who has resorted to cannibalism in the wilderness, which allows the Wendigo spirit to enter their bodies. Once the Wendigo spirit enters a person, they will begin transforming into grotesque, deformed monsters that lurk in the woods and hunt people and eat them.
Hand Holder: The Hand Holder is a parasitic monster that attaches itself to the bones of human hands, then spreading up the arm, controlling the victim, forcing them to get food for it, which ranges from bugs, to small animals, all the way to human flesh. When the hand holder has eaten away all the bone in the victim, it bursts out of the victim, to lay eggs with all bone matter it collected. Without the Hand Holder left to act as the victim's skeleton, the victim dies. It appears as a spider-like creature when young, and by the end of its life cycle, it has taken the shape of it's late host's skeleton.
The Emici: The Emici is a creature which torments pure souls by sucking the joy out of them. It can only survive in the shadows, as its own soul is the most unpure a soul can get. When it finds a pure soul, The Emici will begin giving the victim hallucinations, nightmares, and intrusive thoughts, in an attempt to push the victim to their limits. Once the victim is close to their breaking point, the Emici with begin forcing them to do deadly deed for it, which can range from murder, to cannibalism, to torture. This slowly begins corrupting the soul of the victim, and the Emici feeds off the light being drained from the soul. The Emici appears as a tall, shadowy beast with a blank face.
Ciornotai: The Ciornotai are humanoid bug creatures which disguise as old women in an attempt to feed foolish children their blood. When a human consumes Ciornotai blood, they will transform into them. They feed off the layers that children shed during their transformation into Ciornotai. They appear (without disguises) as a variety of bug humanoids, most commonly beetles or spiders, but can appear as nearly any insect. When in disguise, the only way to tell they aren't human is their tongues, as they will have long, thin blue tongues, made to suck up nectar, or human blood.
These are just some ideas, but gl on ur bestiary ^^

cool!
Golems:
Famous in Jewish folklore, golems are most often depicted as beings created from inanimate matter such as clay or mud, which have been brought to life to serve some purpose. For example, in some stories, a golem is created to defend against antisemitic attacks. According to legend, golems are uniquely obedient and will follow exact and literal orders, so their creators definitely had to be careful with what they asked them to do.
Leprechauns:
Leprechauns are widely known and easily recognizable, especially if youve ever had a certain breakfast cereal. While leprechauns originated in medieval Irish folklore, they did not become prominent until much later. Smaller, diminutive human-like beings, leprechauns are known to be solitary creatures with a love for mischief and practical jokes. Interestingly enough, according to folktales, a leprechauns appearance and dress could change by region.
Mermaids:
Mermaids have a unique allure that has captivated people throughout history. Myths of half-human, half-fish creatures can be traced all the way back to ancient Babylon. Similarly, merpeople are featured in Syrian, Polynesian, and Greek mythology. While some cultures depicted mermaids as beautiful and romantic (in Irish folklore, mermaids could transform into human form and marry humans), sometimes mermaid stories took on a more sinister tone where they were capable of foretelling and bringing disaster.
aqrabuamelu:
The aqrabuamelu, or scorpion man, is a monstrous creature that originated in ancient Mesopotamia, specifically in Babylonian creation myths. They are a hybrid of a scorpion and a man, with the body of a scorpion and the face, torso, and arms of a man. While they are terrifying in appearance and were created to wage war against gods, they also stand as guardians and often warn travelers who might be in danger.
basilisk:
In European legend, the basilisk is a serpentine creature who, much like the Gorgons of Greek myth, can kill with one look. Basilisks, sometimes called the kings of serpents, are featured in literature, including works by Chaucer and Leonardo da Vinci, as well as religious texts such as the Bible. It was hypothesized that basilisks could be killed by subjecting them to the odor of weasels, griffins tears, or seeing its own reflection.
Chimera:
In Greek mythology, the Chimera was a fire-breathing mythical creature, usually depicted as a lion merged with a goat and a snake, which was related to monsters such as Cerberus. However, the term chimera is now often used to describe any creature that is a hybrid of multiple animals often composed of wildly different parts.
vampires:
Over the years, vampires have taken many forms. And I dont mean just turning into bats. While the vampire myth originated in Europe, most cultures have folk tales surrounding vampiric creatures. The most predominant feature of vampires (or vampyres) is the consumption of a persons vital essence, most often in the form of blood. Its interesting to note that the pale and sophisticated vampire which has become commonplace in the media did not exist before the 19th century.
hope this helps!
