I won a custom monthly avatar item from a user run costest the problem is that i have know idea how to do the custom recolor avatar item and was wondering if someone could tell me how i go about do so. I already have gimp and a photobucket account so that is not a problem. Basically i'm asking how do i recolor without changing the lineart? And how do i get just the item that i want recolored?

Krin posts the psd files in the forums I believe and you can only order ones that are in the current month.
Use layers in photoshop.

Is it a design custom avatar item? Then it isnt a recolor of an item already out there.
It is an item (held, head, wings, or back) that *you create* that gets implemented into the game.
Just a sketch & description would probably suffice.

The user i won the item from referred me to here: http://www.sylestia.com/forums/?thread=9885&page=1 Here it says " This service allows you to color any of the above items however you wish." Which is what i was wanting to do. Take one of this months items and recolor it.

Also as i stated i have gimp not photoshop

Still works for gimp though.

Steps:
- download the psd file
- open in gimp
- find the layers section, and make the layers visible for the item you want: X. You make something visible by clicking till you get those little eyes on the side.
- create a new white layer by clicking on the button in the bottom left corner of this screenshot: x
- click and drag this white layer below all of the layers that have eyes
- click on the layers that say 'COLOR LAYER X', these are the layers you can edit.
- Then draw X. When you draw on a 'COLOR LAYER', you will only be able to draw on the designated area. c:
