"I just wanted to warn you," I grumble, my monotone voice dropping a few octaves to avoid being heard by the teacher.
"I have two brothers, an older and a younger one. The younger one is going to ask you lots of questions about women and try and talk your ear off. The older one is ridiculously nosy and obsessed with music. The best way to get them off your back is to ignore them.
My dad's pretty chill though. He's overly helpful sometimes, but that's all," I say, and turn back to my work. Before Ollie can go back to what he's doing, I look back up at him, my red eyes meeting his darker ones. Tommy often says I can look into people's souls with my eyes. He's full of crap.
"Oh, and one more thing. Don't call me Dave at my house. Call me Techno. But if I catch you calling me that here at school..." I trail off, glaring at him, waiting for his response. This was honestly, probably the most I'd talked to anyone outside of my family in over a year. I'd tried to stick to one to two-word responses.

I brush a stray strand of hair behind my ear, my eyes flitting back to my work. I can't believe we have this much work on the second day of school. It was ridiculous. I sigh loudly, tapping the back of my pen against the table.

I squirm slightly in my seat, crossing my legs at the ankle in front of me. I sigh again, wishing I had opted to take a more advanced English class, as I knew all the material for this one. I continue tapping my pen with my left hand, and I begin to mess with a stray strand of pink hair with my right.

I stretch while walking out of the building. I pass Ollie on my way out, tossing my hair over my shoulder in a way of greeting.
This time, I'm the first person to slide into our dad's car. Strange, seeing as at least Tommy is usually here before me.
"Hallo. Where're Will and Tommy?" I ask my dad.
"Tommy's been planning to go to Toby's house for a while now. He'll be staying there till Monday. Will is taking the bus with Fundy, so he'll be home a bit later than usual," he responds.
"Oh, okay. I have a... friend coming over today after school. We have a bio project together," I say. Phil does a double-take.
"A friend? I wasn't aware you had any of those," he says with a loud laugh.
"Shuddup," I mumble, resting my head on the passenger seat window of the car, watching other cars and the scenery swish past.
