I quickly dive out of its tail's reach and scramble away.

Immediately, sand smacks you in the face and you have to cough to get it out of your mouth. You turn at look back at where you came from, to see an arch covered in green flowers, even though there is no water nearby. Next to it is another red flower arch, and a blue flower arch.

Well it looks like she had walked into the middle of a sandstorm, which if Latif recalled correctly was extremely dangerous to be in. She swiftly moved and crossed through the blue arch, wondering if this would be underwater or a beach of some kind. Because Latif was not equipped for a desert trek, nosiree.

Wherever you are, it's dark. You can't see a thing, but you can hear water dripping.

Latif immediately froze, trying to remember if she had bought a torch... no, no she had not. Now she needed to decide if she should back up until she passed through the arch again, or wait and see if her eyes adjusted...

Somewhere nearby, you can hear shuffling, and then a sound like a creature drinking from a pool of water.

I began to punch the snake's legs, trying to get it to stop. Then I grab hold of a branch, hoping to stop the snake from dragging me away.

Latif slowly turned toward the sound, straining to either see or hear that which would indicate friend or foe. She was starting to wish she had indeed bought that torch...
