You hear him mutter something along the lines of 'Stupid Phoenixes.' With a fierce battle cry, he leaps towards you.

"I think you should have a look at this."

He makes a face. "I'm meant to be out collecting Smokeberries. I'll just grow a few and be done with it." A small green sprout appears, thickening and darkening until a small bush was growing in the ground. He picked a couple of the dark greyish red berries and dumped them into his satchel. "Done."


I laugh. "Nice." Then, I pluck a Smokeberry from the bush. "What are these things used for? I can guess that it has something to do with smoke, but not much else."

I shapeshifted into my wolf form as it was a lot smaller. I tried to sneak around him and cut him.

"A look at what?" I tilt my head and swish my tail with restlessness. "Show me."

He leaps up onto a branch, escaping your claws. "Do you even like fighting?" He calls from above.

"Oh," I say. "I was considering eating one, but now I'm definitely not going to eat them. And why don't you chain your prisoners?"

"Cause I think it's mean. My father says that metal's silly. It's completely unnatural and you need fire to make it."
