Trying not to scare the beast, i get on my knees and look for some food in my bag, offering something I found with open hands to it, shaking slightly

A dragonet glides down from the trees, and sniffs the food your offering. Then it gulps it down. Tiny razor-like fangs graze your hand. This dragonet must have wandered from the nest, since it's newly hatched.

What do you do now?

I freak out slightly, thinking of how the mother may act, but I offer it some water as well and pet it/ Hey there little one../ sitting down into a comfortable position, I pat my lap, hoping the dragonet gets the gesture as a friendly one, rather than it not being one/ Are you lost?

You've left with a fishing hook (10 uses), a canteen of water (5 uses/can be refilled), and food (14 uses). Now you can continue wandering around the area, head towards open fields, or head towards the denser forest.

She decided to wander towards the dense forest, more wildlife might live there.

The dragonet is now friendly, and you realize that it must have imprinted on you, being the first one to offer it food. Then the dragonet does a sort of walk/flying, heading towards one direction, before looking back.

What do you do now?

You head towards the forest. A while in, you spot a dark hole in between two trees, decorated with little lanterns.

Heading to the dragon, I neal down offering to hold it and follow its instincts to wherever they want to lead me./ You need a name.. do you have a name? It probably seems weird that I'm talking to a dragon that can't reply back..! Heh./ I pet their head gently trying to find a place the like to be scratched, completely forgetting about the mother dragon
