I try to find some carrion, ravens and crows eat that, right? I look around to see if any crows are flying around, maybe they'll lead my to some fresh meat...

Sure, but they probably would like meat more.

hmmm then instead I'll stop by my house and skin the smaller rabbit, (leaving the fur outside to tan) and cut the meat into sizeable chunks taking the smallest pieces with me to act as bait

I shrug and keep walking, I still want to drop off my catch at my house, I'll leave it inside one of my baskets though so the flies can't get too it.

I drop off the rabbits in a wicker basket, close it tightly, and put it inside the house for added caution, as a second thought I grab a thin stick in case I would need to fashion a fishing rod

I sit back on some rocks and just watch him fish for a while, i'd agreed to go fishing but growing up on a desert I'd never been particularly interested in it or had practice at it, so I'll just watch him fish for a while.
