~Nights~

Nights continues down the tunnel running ahead of the humans just far enough so that they still had sufficient light to see but so they couldn't catch her. After taking a series of the most unlikely turns and even having to climb over a collapsed set of support beams, nights reached a dead end blocked off by wooden planks and metal sheets haphazardly patched together to form a barrier.
She sat down and waited patiently for the humans.

Ase~
Tripping over the fallen beams she reached the ryori panting the whole time. "Don't do that again!" She scolded while trying to catch her breath.

~Nights~

The ryori obediently returned the lanturn and hopped up on Theon's shoulder just as he arrived behind Ase.

Ase~
Still panting she looked about. "I've never been in this part of the tunnel before..."

~Theon~

"Then who boarded up the tunnel?" he said as he approached the barricade. He could tell it was there for the simple fact of the way in which their voices reverberated around the space. It wasn't a solid wall either, there was empty space behind it. He placed a hand on the wall and felt cold metal under his fingers.
As he slid his hand along the surface he encountered somthing that made him pause.

Ase~
"I-I don't know. Maybe it was the ones that came before us?" She said in questioning manner. She searched the opposite direction as he checked the wall. Altair and Maria sniffed about around her as Darim slept on his mother back. What could this place be? In reality she had always been cautious to explore the tunnels, you never knew when there would be a cave in.

~Theon~

"Elves..."
There was writing on the wall. Elvish writing. He ran his hand along the line of runes to find where it began.

Ase~
She turned at this. "But how?" She asked looking at the writing. "This tunnel was built by men! I smelled it when I walked the tunnels." She said in wonder. "If this is even writing could that mean that they are still living?"

~Theon~

Theon ran his fingers slowly over the indented runes. He didn't know much elvish but it was enough for him to be able to make out what it said.

Our world is fading before our eyes, we sit powerless before the shadows. What once was our ally has turned against us to seek what we knew not that we had stolen. Soon the world will see what we have done, soon they will know our failure and be forced to suffer under this curse...

Theon read this aloud as he ran his hand over it a second time.
This writing was old and worn, but just a little ways down there was more. This had been carved far more recently than the last, but by the same person.

The spell has been written at last, but it is not I who shall be the one to cast it. You know my name, but not my face. You who I have been forced to abandon. The spirit has guided you to this place at last as I knew she would. Come now and face your past so that we may look to the future.

This he didn't read aloud. He couldn't bring himself to do it. There was a signature at the end of the second message... Sen...

Ase~
"But why?" Does it answer why we are meant to suffer here?" She asked a hand on her baby bump of a belly now. She was hungry and her feet hurt, but there was a mystery at hand that needed solving. What could it mean?
