Elliot nodded. She still felt kind of shocked by the day's events. She sat down and began to look through her bag as well. It was mostly books and other simple school supplies but at the bottom of her bag, she pulled out the lunch she never ate today, mostly because she had been too frustrated to eat. "Ahm... this is about all I have of worth." She said.

Henri stared at the others' items with a mix of disappointment and a few points of interest. "At least we have a bit of food and matches. Seriously, matches? Why did you even have those, Az? Can you call you that?" They huffed, feeling a bit disappointed in their own contributions. "I've got a pack of markers, charcoal, and my sketchpad. And, this..." They pulled out a wad of twine and colored yarn for braiding bracelets along with a tiny wood carving tool. It wouldn't do as much as a knife but they at least knew how to use it.

"The biggest question right now is what to do about food."

"I heard about fungi," said Ethan. "I don't know which fungi are poisonous or not, though." He looked down at his textbook. "I don't know how I didn't manage to bring my own bookbag, either."

Axel put his hands on his hips as he glanced around. "Psh... Well, we don't know for sure what's safe out here, wherever 'here' is, so we got a few options, though none of them are really promising.
First, we can experiment with anything that looks edible. Problem is, we could risk food poisoning with that.
Second, we try to see if there's anyone out there who knows what we can eat without dying. Odds of that don't seem great right now, though...
Third, we can just-- not eat and get outta here in less than 72 hours before we all starve to death.
Fourth option--..."
Axel paused, then shook his head. "Well, we're not that desprate.... I hope."

"All of those options suck!" Henri groaned and collapsed to the ground, arms over their knees. "You weren't about to suggest that we kill and eat someone were you?" They groaned again, giving Axel a rather impressive disapproving look. Their mother would be proud of it. "If we don't find people soon, we'll be doomed and if someone doesn't give me a granola bar now, I'll be doomed!" Henri might have been a stick, but they could eat a lot.

Zeth enjoyed watching this one show called 'survive this', a reality show series following eight young teens each season becoming stranded in forests and unexplored terrain. She had learned many valuable things in this such as which tree roots are edible.
"Maple, sassafras, oak, birch, linden, mulberry, walnut, popular, and slim elm all have edible bark and roots. Pine leaves, when green and starchy, are really great for you. I only know deciduous forest though, so outside of that, I got nothing."

"You'll never know Henri. But yeah, our options do suck." Axel gripped. "We don't even know if sassafras and pine and whatever else exist here. Though if they do, that'd be fantastic." He added.

"I have a granola bar. And I have no idea why I have a box of matches. I guess you can call me Az, I don't find anything against the nickname." Azrail lists, handing Henri one of his two granola bars without hesitation.

"Fungi don't suck. How can something suck when everyone hates it anyway?" Ethan said. "I mean, we could theoretically try to find a deer and kill it with... our sticks and matches. Or rocks." He picked up a small, smooth one from the ground and threw it.

Henri took the granola bar gratefully and tore through the wrapper, eating the item quickly. "Sorry, I really don't think well when I'm hungry. It might be best if we divvy up the food we do have for now and try to save some for tomorrow too. It might be a long shot to find edible things in such a strange place but since a few of you guys seem to really know plants well, you should go look around. I want to go find wood and start a fire if someone wants to come with me," they stated as they stood up again. Who knew how long they would have good lighting. If they wanted to make camp, they needed to do it fast.
