Stuff I like about the festival


Leaderboards - it gives people a chance to go for the themed pet they really want, instead of relying on spending real money or by chance. (i hate gambling)

Anonymous Leaderboards - love this feature, now people can't be bugged for doing well on the leaderboards or for being on too many

I like the seeking feature

Stuff I don't like about the festival

The reuse of the Spring Festival Map

No egg hunt or equivalent, or replacement

No site wide events every 3 hours or so where the site as a whole has to collect a number of items, fight a number of bandits, and then battle a boss.

The re-release of old zone themes but with DIFFERENT colors *major groan*

Overall, the zone just seems like a watered down Spring Festival. Plenty of stuff taken away, but nothing new added.

Some ideas
Have a npc in the zone that gives us tasks to do in the zone. Like fight 50 bandits or fight one of the bosses 3 times.. After you're done, go back, collect a festival reward, and then get a new task.

We did not touch the previous themes...they still have the color set of last year.

What really annoys me is the nurture contest. People breed, nurture, and then release so no one else can nurture them. Or buy a cheap egg, nurture, and release it. I've also seen several other people get really annoyed by it. Especially the buying eggs/nurture/release sequence. People spend lots of time breeding eggs for the right ones, and then set them up cheap for newer players who can't afford much, thinking they've done something good for the community...and then they get bought and released.

Two suggestions that I highly agree with concerning that have sprung up. (Not sure if these belong with this post, or in the Suggestions box.)
1) Have a delay time to be able to release pets after being bought, at any time. So, say, after you've bought a pet, you have to wait for 24 hours before releasing it.
2) Turn off the ability to release eggs and hatchlings during the festivals which have nurture contest. So you could do it while they're still adolescents, and they don't flood your stables. But, you can't release them after nurturing just to prevent others from doing it.

Other than that, it's been mostly fun. I managed to be on for the opening of the first door in the pick-a-door, and enter a pet for the 3-vis, (currently working on the coloring sheet), but I missed everything else because I couldn't get on in time for it (or in the case of maze, not enough gold/diamonds/sun tokens). What I could do was fun - I really appreciate all the hard work you put into making this possible -, but it's a bummer to miss out on other things because I can't get on in time. It would be really nice if things were set at a more variety of times, so people with different schedules have the ability to participate.

Offhand, I haven't really been into the seeking feature, but I kinda wish the avatar items would pop up more often.


Or since the monster drops are in the holiday shop, it would be convenient to see the seeking avatar items and/or the majestic maze items in the holiday shop for a boosted price.

Hi they still have the same colors but they're in different spots so we can't do projects with the old versions and the new versions without major color swings.

I've really enjoyed this festival so far for the most part. I've particularly enjoyed the fact that you guys have listened to us in allowing seeking supplies to be exchanged. I wasn't particularly enthused about the festival initially as the map has had no changes, we have no non-paid maze and pets were very hard to come across but the way it was adapted and changed by the admins has really brought me back into the game, so here I am :)

Suggestions/gripes:

1. Nurturing contests. Let me be the first to say, though I'm sure I don't need to say it, that I love these bad boys. I love the competition, find it very relaxing and enjoyable and I love being able to collect pets, gift pets to my friends and put my ability to grind for hours to use. I do think choosing to go anonymous was a mistake as we have lost the air of camaraderie and I'm sure any "hate" it was done to avoid will only happen at the end of the contest with increased vigor. Thank you for making our own names visible - that was a huge help.
This being said I think the practice of breeding to release or buying to release to gain the upper hand in nurturing contests is gross. I know it's been mentioned a few times in this thread already but honestly this is pretty much cheating. It's sad people feel they need to buy and release other's pets in order to get an upper hand. I think the use of anonymous names has made this practice far more prevalent as people feel they can get away with it without being questioned as to why they've got 200 more nurtures than the other person who nurtured every pet of that species on the site. Let me be living proof this isn't a necessary practice to win at all and I honestly think something needs to be done about this - perhaps have a cooldown on releasing bought pets to the wild or maybe a delay before you can nurture your own eggs. I suppose there's not a great deal that can be done to stop people nurturing and releasing their own pets, or colluding with friends, but I do think that going around buying up other people's pets does as much damage as the release contest did. I feel terrible for the people who's pets have been released through this, and I feel terrible for the people who have spent hours nurturing in a moral way to find themselves stuck behind someone who has decided they can get away with this with their added anonymity. Please do something.

2. Seeking Majestic Tools. I currently have in the region of 60 water and 60 clay. I don't have anywhere near the stock of pearls or pet items to make this many pets, which means you guys have done a wonderful job of ensuring that the pets remain much more exclusive this time - thank you! However I really am very tired of buying/winning and using majestic tools to use them on lucky spots to get water and clay. I can buy water and clay in the seeking baskets in the diamond shops, I can buy them off other people, honestly my iron tools pull them up all. the. time. I don't think they should be a Majestic Tool drop at all, it's very disheartening and frustrating to spend real money on tools to get your 60th vial of water instead of any of the wonderful other items available from seeking. I believe the drop rate of water and clay using Majestic Tools is way, way too high.

Also just an added note - I believe the Majestic Maze still mentions flower pets rather than sea pets - might be an idea to change the wording so it becomes apt for every future festival :D

Two things:

1)Agreed with LAvelle on majestic tool drop rates. If i py real money for something, I'd rather get something out of it. Its extremely distressing and slightly angering when I buy a 20 pack of tools and only 10 of them give em anything at all, and 5 of those successful 10 bring me less than a thousand gold...really not worth it. I'd rather get, say, philters, than nothing at all. Event traps or something. /Anything./ Just not nothing.

2)The coloring on the recolorable tropical shamans tiara =( Instead of using head color 2 AT ALL, it uses our HAIR color. Which, really, really bothers me =( I'm a fan of natural hair colors on my avi, and very rarely change the brown I am using now. On the tiara, the feathers seem to pull from your ahir color (as well as the actual "metal" tiara portion aroudn the top of the head) causing it to be a pale brown when using whtie on head color 1.

Not only that, it is onyl being used as some type of overlay. So anythign put in ehad color 1 gets put underneath that, and dyed an ugly brown color as well. (using black because it shows up the best)

And when the air color is on top of a color it doesnt show up much on? Then the entire tiara portion is jsut one. Single. Color.

I absolutely LOVE the design of the tiara. Its one of my fave head item designs (that has hair). But....this color ruins it for me. I don't want to walk around wit brown feathers in m hair. But since I very rarely change ym hair color (and dotn liek to) i either am stuck with it, or cant use an item i would otherwise probably wear 24/7 =/

Can I just make a suggestion on wording, I've noticed some confusion with regards to when leaderboards end/people being surprised they have a day less than they thought

Contest Ends: 9/6/2015 at 12:00 AM

Would it be possible to have these sorts of things say Ends 9/5/2015 at 11:59:59 or maybe even just Ends 9/5/2015? I feel like that implies it ends at the end of the 5th, rather than the current set up which is difficult with the use of 12am right on the border of the two days. Not sure what the wording should be - just think it could possibly be clearer especially for non-native speakers :)

I'd like to see Themed trait distributor where you can pick the traits and genes the pet gets.

Also a Philter that allows starter Pet regeneration
