"I don't believe that for a second!" Resa didn't get time to respond before chief Yett arrived. He stormed up to the two with a scowl. "Someone's sylesti gets taken, you just happen to be on the scene and you expect me to believe you're not working some sort of case? No. I don't buy it, detective." He practically spat the word at him. "You're lucky I don't haul you in to the station for interfering with police business."
"Uh, sir?" Resa spoke up. "Even if that's true he has legal right to be here." William shot her a warning glare but she stood her ground and continued. She was probably the only officer brave enough to argue with the old man. "As an official investigator he is allowed full access to any crime scene and evidence relating to one of his cases." She sounded as if she was quoting a rule from a manual.

(my character will just be observing until he comes in contact with the others. Maybe he is noticed by the police, a guy just a few buildings down in an alley with a computer may b a bit suspicious haha. Or if he is hidden well then I will just have him run into them later, or when the tapes he sent in from earlier reach front page news they try and find out who was behind it?? lol we'll work something out)
Julius seemed to give up on finding any more clues the other cameras and just focused on the one outside the building that was damaged. If he could just get close enough to grab the memory disk... He glanced back to the cameras on his computer and tried to locate where all the officers were. The entrance was on the other side of the building so most of the police officers were over in that area. He should be able to sneak over. Yet as he was looking someone caught his eyes. An investigator he had seen on the news one time...if he was involved this would definitely be interesting.... He closed his computer, peaked out the corner to make sure his way was clear before heading towards the camera.

Matt smiled congenially, fighting the urge so sigh or show some other form of aggravation when the police chief ranted at him. He wan unable to refrain from raising an eyebrow as the officer actually defended him. That was can unusual occurance in itself. She had not even been the slightest fazed by his alibi. Normally the gullible officers believed him, the decent ones pretended to, and the others usually let him leave with a stern warning to stay out of their business. He'd never had one actually arguing his right to stay. Still he wished he could have gotten out of here without police complications. As much as he wanted to he could not just leave. Excusing himself would be difficult, and quietly fading into the crowd, (A tactic he had used on several occasions to avoid or leave the chiefs oh so charming company), was impossible with and officer in front, and angry police chief on one side, and a police sylesti on the other. Due to the often solitary, and sometimes dangerous nature of his job, Matt had developed a high aversion to being surrounded. Smiling politely to hide his discomfort Matt spoke, "If it is any consolation, I know less than you do about what happened here today."

The police chief was unsure how to respond to the young officer's words. She was right, of course, just like she usually was. Resa had studied every law book she could find since William first met her and she knew her stuff well. He'd be proud if he wasn't so furious. Did she have to contradict him in front of the detective? The situation was only worsened by the fact he couldn't argue with her but there was still something he could do.
"Alright, so lets pretend you're telling the truth, detective." It was clear by his tone that he still didn't believe it. "I am now classifying this as a crime scene. Anyone other than those with legal right will be escorted out and since you're saying you aren't working a case you have no right to be here." He glanced at Resa as if expecting her to argue.
"I'll start clearing people out, sir." She moved to assist some of the other officers who had already begun escorting people toward the door but chief Yett interrupted her.
"No, your shift is over. Go home, Resa." Resa flinched as if he had physically struck her. She was already expecting to be sent home but the harshness of his words in addition to his glare were something she hadn't experienced before.
"Y-yes, sir." She wanted to change his mind but didn't want enrage him further so she held her tongue.
"And make sure he leaves with you." He motioned toward Matt.

Matt bowed "Of course sir." He stood up grateful to be leaving at last. As much as he would have liked to look backstage, it was unwise at the moment. Besides that he still had a dinner appointment to get to. Showing up a little early to that crime scene would be more productive. He was also looking forward to a quieter atmosphere to mull things over. He kept pace with the police officer, hoping his compliance would keep her out of worse trouble. The cold air on his face was a welcome change. He glanced at the crowd frowning slightly when he caught a glimpse of someone in an ally way. ((Julius. Seems like a good way to include him in the scheme of things.)) He did not look like one of the men from the incident, for all that he looked familiar. If he does not move soon, Matt thought, The police will spot him for sure, the chief would love to have a suspect to take his anger out on. Reaching Bluestar, he turned to the officer. "I would like to thank you for what you did back there, but you do not need to get yourself in trouble again. After all I am accustomed to taking care of myself." Matt added with a smile.

Julius glanced around at the police and kept them in sight. Quickly he worked his way to the camera he had his eyes on quickly slipping his hand up pressing a small button on the bottom and ejecting the chip. He glanced around and momentarily caught the detective's glance and quickly looked away. So he had been spotted....He needed to get out as quick as possible but due to all the events that had happened a crowd had been forming and making a quick getaway wasn't easy. He tucked his computer back into his backpack and looked for a way through.

Resa had been lost in thought on their way outside. Now that she'd been dismissed she had no idea what to do with the rest of her day. On her days off she would usually spend her time at the park with her sylesties but Courage was in no condition to play outside today. Perhaps the library would be better? The detective's words brought her out of her daze.
"I was just reminding chief Yett of the rules, even he's not above the law. It wasn't my intention to defend you." She spoke very matter-of-factly as she watched Charisma bark a greeting at Bluestar and glanced around, frowning at the size of the crowd. Her eyes narrowed as she spotted a man with a backpack hanging around the security camera. Had he taken something? She wasn't sure but he seemed to be having trouble finding his way through the mass of people.

Matt shrugged, "You have my thanks anyway. Not many would have even done that." He watched the alley man out of the corner of his eye. He fussed over his sylesti deep in thought. There were too many loose ends to this case, and he was not willing to share all he knew or guessed with the police chief as of yet. He did not have any evidence for it, but he had a strong hunch that this had something to do with the sylesti's battle abilities. People had not battled sylesties for generations, at least not publicly. Could it be an underground fight club? No, the thugs seemed much to professional for that, besides they would need money to afford the suits they wore, something most of those who frequented the rings had little of. Not only that, but the risk of a police raid was to great. Whoever this was had to be confidant of not being caught. The professionalism hinted at something far larger, but what that was Matt had no clue...yet. Bluestar shook his head and Matt realized he had been combing his fingers through the same strand of his mane for several minutes now. He patted the Qitari's neck in apology glad that the police chief was not present to see him staring into space. Even Yett would be suspicious seeing a detective lost in thought when said detective supposedly had no intel on current circumstances. Although Matt had to admit that what he had was very little to go on.

Julius had realized he was seen. It annoyed him a bit he hoped he could just get through this like a ghost and be out. But now someone knew he was there and messing with the cameras. If he wasn't careful he would end up a suspect again.

Resa decided that despite chief Yett's orders to go home she had to see what this stranger was doing around the camera. If he had something to do with the theft then, off duty or not, she needed to question him. She turned to Matt.
"You're welcome, detective... I suppose. Uh, please excuse me and take care on your way out." She motioned to Charisma and made her way toward the unknown man.
