She was tempted to ask what that was all about, but figured he wouldn't tell her even if she did ask, so she was silent.

That was a fair choice, he probably wouldn't have. But mostly because he was tired out from the pain spasm.

She shook her head and turned off the dome light, getting comfortable in her seat, turning off the car

His face was upward and he seemed to mumble under his breath, words that where barely audible. Just a few and they kept repeating. Something about a brother?

She remembered how his brother had died. Was that what was haunting him? Well, she couldn't blame him, she could empathize a little

He barely remembered really. He just knew from memories that weren't locked that he'd been close to his brother but then something had happened. His brother had gotten sick, he didn't come home anymore and he looked sad and tired with things connected to him. Eventually he'd cuddled Vex, and told him that even if he left that he would soon be with him again and they'd both be happy. That even if Valex left, that Vex couldn't handle it and soon would be back with his older brother. He'd said his good bye's as their mother cried in a corner and their father seemed angry outside the hospital room. Vex had been confused, hugging his brother until a nurse took him away and gave him to his mother. And then she'd given him to his father as she broke down again, screaming and crying her heart out. Their father seemed mostly mad, not seeming to really care at some point.

She had no idea that any of that happened, but at least he had been young.

Yes, he'd been quite young. Six, to be exact. He'd just turned six. A few years after his dear brother had given him that bracelet. That bracelet that was still on the floor. Strange, the usual Vex would have picked it right back up and put it on, not left it there on the floor.

She leaned over and picked it up before hugging him the best she could, kind of expecting him to flinch or pull away or do something to show that her contact wasn't welcome

First, he shuddered faintly before hugging back. He hugged back, as gentle as a breeze. "Sorry..." He muttered. A hug was what he'd needed for a long time. That had been a good choice, to hug him instead of saying anything.
