Screeing, the hatchling ran back into the narrow crack.

"It doesn't like me." Claudio sighed.

"Well, you are the one who killed it's predecessor outside." Lint said as she coaxed the hatchling with the grubs. "It must have watched through the entrance"

"I thought it killed you........ what was I supposed to do.......... let it kill me?" Claudio said.

"Of course not! But this hatchlings sees that as bad. From it's perspective, we just murdered it's family. From our perspective, we just saved ourselves from certain doom." Lint said as she dropped the grubs by the hatchling.

"I wish I could tell it but it would refuse to listen." Claudio said.

"It seems to only have evolved into bigger, not smarter. I doubt it understands us" Lint replied as she went to get a book from the shelf.

Kall heard voices from a cave. He smelled a giant bird, which was enough of a hint for him to know food. He ate some of the huge bird, always keeping weary of the noises from the den.

"Yeah." Claudio said.

Lint sat down on the bed and started reading when her nose twitched. "Someone's outside, and not the bird" She said as she set the book down and inched to the entrance.

Kall had eaten his fill and decided to check out the cave. He smelled bear and something else, but he couldn't just make it out.
