If this is true ... if ... and I gotta say I've been duped enough times in my life to know that if it smells like rat, it probably is a rat. For someone who once in a while gets WiFi, you're online an awful lot. For someone who thinks it's a "little chilly" being homeless in Michigan in October, you must be extremely cold tolerant. For someone who walked approximately 740 miles from Maryland to Michigan in "a few weeks", you have got to be the fastest walker alive. You have an expensive laptop computer, but you have no idea what state you live in until someone suggests you use the internet that is, conveniently, at your fingertips to figure out where you are. You attend public school with no legal guardian, yet you're vague on the details when people ask how you managed to dodge the system and get into school. You have a job, even though you're two years younger than you legally have to be in order to work in this country.

But, for posterity's sake, here goes.

I would not advise any homeless thirteen-year-old to go to a shelter. You can get a meal there, and sometimes clothing, but you can't stay long term, and there are people who visit shelters regularly to case transients going in and out, mark the ones who look like an easy target, and follow them to take everything they have. I'm not sure an orphanage is the best idea, either. You should talk to a caseworker. There are a lot of people out there who are paid to help people like you. Any local civic center can point you in the right direction: a library, a courthouse, even the police. Because you're a minor, a social worker should be appointed to help protect you. That means finding you a place to live, enough food to eat, the right clothing to wear, and ensuring you are able to get an education.

Whether or not your story is true, you seem to believe it is. This isn't a very nice way to put it, and I'm sorry, but I'd rather give it to you straight than dance around the issue. Either you're homeless and far too young to be so, or you're suffering from mental illness. Either way, please get help. Neither place is a good one to be in.

Wat kinda internet are you using, you could get in trouble if your found out to be using someones internet. It's one thing to use a public connection like the libraries.

When you put something on the public domain, you have to be prepared for people to respond based on their own experiences and beliefs. So, while I can understand someone's desire to protect a person she believes to be vulnerable, I have just as much right to call foul if I suspect a potential scam. Besides, probably the worst thing for Ponyluvr2000 is for everyone to "leave her be," no matter what her real problem is. I do believe there are elements of truth to her story, but there are also a lot of incongruities that don't ring true.

@Gbumpkin,

(Note that really only the first paragraph is directed at you, the rest just goes on about debunking the story)

You don't have to be rude or act offended about it, much more you really shouldn't believe everything you read on the internet. A LOT of people do stuff for attention. I can name countless examples of people lying to get attention. I don't mean to sound rude but how you responded kind of rude and snippy itself when all Moxie wanted to do was get this person some real help rather than leaving them alone and getting themselves into more trouble than they were already in, or letting them continue to tell lies that are as serious as this.

On another note,

I don't believe them either. It's all just to convenient. It just so happens that both of her parents are dead and the rest of her family hates her and she just casually walked for a couple of weeks and ended up somewhere apparently paying no regard to road signs and not knowing were they were. A strait shot from Maryland to Michigan is about 9 days of non-stop walking, not to mention if she's really are as lost as she makes out to seem there'd be a lot more walking involved.

Much more if she did go to school her teachers would not give her weird looks and shrug it off, they'd help her. It's their job, if not the teachers the principal she apparently talked to to get in would have done SOMETHING rather than just saying "sure you can come in our school as long as you get good grades, but to bad about you being homeless bye now have a good day." If the whole school knows she's homeless like she says SOMEONE in that school would do SOMETHING. Heck, maybe even one of the students would tell their parents and they'd do something. Basically what I'm saying is probably roughly 1000(depending on school size) people know about her and you're trying to tell me not ONE single person is going to do something?

Sorry to get kind of ranty but I've been keeping an eye on this thread for a while now and I've been doubtful from the start, but I didn't want to be THAT person to start off and say "yea well I don't believe you." Really all this is is a fairy's tale, but you know what? For a fairy tale it's very well written and you could be a great writer, and hell, if it is true write about it, get your story out there. But you better be willing to answer questions like the ones posted in this thread and so many more. And you should probably iron out the holes in your story before you try to tell it to people. Get people to review it and make them ask questions.

It's hard to tell voice on the internet. So it came across as a little rude, sorry. I know your trying to stand up for what you believe...'course I'm not really part of this argument.
