If you got pinged, YOU PASSED!

ROUND 2

In this round you will have some wheels to spin, what you roll is what you have to work with. HOWEVER. The animal/bug/creature/avian...etc you roll, you are NOT using it literally, you need to do a read through of their biology, and pick out one of their traits to focus on/to use in your story. (so you can use their mating habits, hunting habits...etc, and incorporate it)

However, you will also be rolling a genre that you'll be working with for your selected creature. Then right after you have a 'personality trait' that you need to try and show it in your story, could be a side character, doesn't necessarily have to be your main.

The you will roll a color, that you will make use of, or reference in your story.

(You get 3 spins per wheel, incase you got a roll you didn't like. Please SHOW all your rolled selections, and which ones you chose)

1. Pick a Creature

2. Genre

3. "Personality Trait"

4. Color

(Example, I rolled a mantis, horror genre, sadistic trait and the color red...would have to use those, I may pick to go with the mantis's mating habits of where the mantis eats the male's head during mating...etc.

So maybe you might have a humanoid monster that exhibits that?)

I put a mini-example.

but basically what you roll from the wheel is what your story will be based around on, WITHOUT using the actual animal. if you write a story using the actual animal, you're probably not going to pass.

So for example, if you roll:

-mantis-...mating habits? Female bites male head off?
-blue-ringed octopus, very poisonous, so may use that?
-cuckoo...they don't raise their own kids, they make another bird raise their kids...etc...etc

So, the animal we choose isn't to be mentioned, but we use the other traits to bring the animal it's self to life?

I can do that! Thank you :D

More like, use a selected biology of the animal and make references to it in your story, or incorporate it in.

But the entire story itself does NOT have to be about that animal, it could be a humanoid monster that exhibit the characteristics of a cuckoo or a mantis.

Part 1 - Resurrection

The twelve remaining desert savages surrounded the man impaled upon a spike. A mere few hours earlier, he writhed about and cried while a crowd of a hundred looked on-wards with mixed responses of pity, sorrow, morbid curiosity or cold hatred. Now, as the man lay lifeless, and the blood had long since dried under the sun's wrathful glare, the various parasites had departed - their amusement spent. The twelve that remained wailed and gestured towards the sky, babbling incoherently. I crept closer to them on all fours, I could practically smell their despair: their sorrow. My eyes went to an emaciated looking woman, who's dirty rags were nearly stripped away. I could see the skin tightly stretched against her ribcage, she had not eaten for several days. Her back was marked with sore looking lacerations across it. At last, the woman saw me, her civilized eyes widened in fear as they met mine - wild and feral. I shrank away from the site but kept watch at a distance.

The man was removed from the spike and laid down upon a large slab of rock. The clan of twelve held hands around him and began to mutter in a strange tongue I could not understand as they stared up at the sky. Their eyes rolled back into their heads and at once their bodies violently spasmed as though they were rapt in ritual. Then the body began to glow, and a blinding light filled the desert. It hurt! I turned away and screwed my eyes shut, and when the light finally subsided, I saw that the dead man stood, alive and unhurt. Tears of joy streamed down everyone's faces as they each hugged the man in turn. I fled back to my tribe on all fours, terrified yet awakened.

Part 2 - Wise Woman

I rushed up the tallest tree, adeptly ascending to its highest point. A large hut swung precariously, and it seemed as though the slightest rustle of wind would topple it over. I burst into the tree-top abode, quickly searching for a Shamaness. I found her, my teacher, quietly meditating. I rushed over.

"Eisha!" I yelled.

"So you returned from the Harshlands, child." Her hawk-like eyes snapped open, she stared at me with an uncomfortable intensity. "You found the savages?"

"I saw them bring a dead man back to life! They have so much power!"

She smiled and shook her head, and her smile looked sad. "Their strength grows day by day: Their kind is reckless with their gift."

"I want to bring back the dead!" I demanded. "Now I know it can be done! Why can't we bring them back?"

"Because Life must ebb and flow naturally. To tamper with it is to harm the very fabric of Nature."

"But they don't seem to follow that rule."

"And that may be their undoing. When life is given where it should not be, then it must be taken from somewhere else."

I shook my head and frowned. "I don't know...Forgive me...I do not believe you. I think I would rather follow their ways."

"Then go." Said the wise-woman calmly, after a moment of thought. "I saw that this might happen by instructing you to find them."

"Then why did you make me do it?" I asked curiously.

"Because faith can only be found in the heart. I can show you the many different paths there are that connect to the Great Tree, yet you must be the one to climb it. And if you choose a path that is different from mine, then... I must let you go."

"But...aren't you angry?"

"No. I would be angry if you did not follow your heart! But take heed: expect your struggle to be fierce by seeking out the Savages. Nothing can come from their recklessness but violence..."

And so, I went out to seek the savages, with Eisha's words in my ears...

Part 3 - White Wolf

Many days and nights passed and I was in the middle of the desert again, but this time I was lost. I couldn't remember where the resurrection site was, and there were no signs of life. I tried searching the ground for tracks but a vicious sandstorm must have swept it through.

On this night, it was freezing, and I was in desperate need of water. I think I was close to death because I was so weak that I could not move, and my head felt foggy. I stared up at the cold stars above, helplessly. Then, I was approached by a huge wolf that glowed with a bright, white aura.

He howled, and suddenly I felt lighter. I stood to greet White Wolf and we ran across the desert, as fast as gazelles. And then, I was shown: Our beloved forest being burnt to the ground by the reckless savages, my entire family imprisoned or impaled. I rushed over to try and help them: The matriarchs were being taken away into slavery!

But White Wolf growled and steered me away while the forest was leveled. A grand city appeared in its place: it was filled with bright lights and metal. Huge towers reached towards the sky, as networks of invisible lines connected to each other all across the city. We briefly went into the city filled with machines and people. These savages were dressed like aliens!

Then there were machines that took to the air, and they seemed to leave the sky itself! We followed upwards: far above the sky, into the night. We followed, until our world looked so tiny. like a little blue jewel. And then Wolf turned to me.

Is this the power that you seek?

I nodded eagerly. Yes! I want to go into the sky!

But you would leave your family behind?

I felt sad. They did not choose to follow me.

Very well. Said White Wolf, and we were on the ground again. Now, we must part ways. And then, I awoke. Wolf was gone. I looked up and saw that I was being watched by the desert savages.

Final Part - Escape

I was not welcome among the savages. I tried to show them that I wanted to be like them, but they did not see me as a friend.

They tied me up and began throwing stones at me. They yelled things at me in their strange language, and I began to cry. Then when they got tired of throwing stones at me, they left me alone. I began to feel weak again, and I was losing a lot of blood.

White Wolf appeared again, and motioned for me to come with Him.

No. I sniffed though tears of betrayal.

Wolf snarled. It is time to continue our Journey.

But I want to see the city, and the bright lights! I want to touch the stars!

White Wolf shook his head. You do not belong here anymore. It is time to find your own way.

I sat defiantly. White Wolf snapped and began dragging me along by His teeth. He dragged me all the way to the mouth of a cave.

I stared up at the portal, until it dawned on me. At last. I finally understood...

I entered the portal confidently as White Wolf followed. We did not look back as we left the desert behind.
