The regular sounds of owls passing nearby seemed to be mute. The canyon, thankfully, was normal, nothing really was happening

Cinder flew to the canyon with a moving struggling mass in her talons. As she got closer, the figure, an owlet, started started struggling more. She landed, hissing at it. "Stop with your riot before I drop you off that cliff with rocks tied to your wings!"

Cinder dropped the owlet by the teacher, who then forced it into a row of other owlets. She then flew off, heading to the lake.
