Most people on Sylestia are very nice folks, which is the reason I used to wonder why other players would specify things like "be nice" or "remember to be courteous" on their threads.

Then I realized that these kinds of postings don't chase rude, thoughtless people away. Instead, they reassure the cool, thoughtful people that "this thread is safe; go right ahead and post. The author of this thread will not tolerate bullying, dissing, or crude language." People who have ever been afraid of being harassed or bullied online like to know that The Powers That Be will come down on bullies like a ton of square rectangular building things.

For the record, a Sylestia Admin had to lower the boom on me once. I hadn't harassed anyone, but I had posted a link to something that would not have been appropriate for the youngest users of this site. I was careless and just hadn't thought about it. I apologized and never did it again, and it was all cool. So even if someone on Sylestia--even an admin--has ever told you, "You ought not post X on Sylestia," it's not the end of the world. Apologize and move on. Everybody is allowed to make mistakes.

Now I am going to venture into the Fest Zone. As I am on a quantity of painkillers, this should be interesting...

SpaceElf1- Ahhh, painkillers...my poor boyfriend just underwent a triple root canal today, so he's a bit looped up as well. (Sadly I'm at work an unable to take care of him tonight.)
And yeah, I've had very pleasant interactions with everyone thus far! I had moved here from a particularly drama-ridden pet site, so this community and the way the website is run is an absolute breath of fresh air.
