You notice that those firefly thing was produce by the grass itself and that walking on it instead of on the old track make them swarm around you. The fireflys wasn't phisicals so you didn't have to wory about behing bitten or anything. If anything the sneak was amused by your find, tho it was a bit strange to not be able to refear to him by a proper name.

It is warm to touch, and a few oppening on the side seem to indicate that you could place thing in here to activate the machine. Maby the pack would know more about his function and the way to procead.
