Ivan looked around for a way to get past. He wished that there was some sort of fog or something to cover them better, but he knew he'd probably have to do without.

Nothing, but you noticed they were to big to come as close to shore as you could and travel along the coast directly. Unless they had ling range canons, a ram or ballistic skills you could probably get through unharmed.
