Her eyes are wide, but she's staring to the side, not at him, as if she's gone blind. The pain is so bad by now that she literally can't sense anything else. She doesn't even feel him move her.

She did too.

He shook his head, once. "I wasn't fair to you," he murmured. "I knew the laws, better than anyone. I knew it would end...like this. I ignored my better judgment, and for that, I'm sorry." His voice didn't change. It was still calm and polite. "But, after tonight, we'll be enemies. Your father and my queen will be at war. If I see you again, I might kill you." His eyes narrowed, and his voice turned cold. "For real this time, Isiea."



Surprisingly, the cots weren't uncomfortable.

She still doesn't hear him. Her fingers are staring to bleed, as is one side of her face.

That is quite surprising. It doesn't take her long to fall asleep.

"Isiea. Stop. You're going to hurt yourself," he said, taking her hand away from her face



Puck was already asleep.

Her hand isn't by her face; she's as limp as a corpse. Her eye is bleeding, and so are her fingertips.

"Why is your eye bleeding again? What did you do?"

She tries to speak, but all that comes out is a faint, strangled noise, so quiet he barely even hears it. Her fingers are starting to bleed really badly, including now her knuckles and the part above the finger bones, and so is her eye, in the gap where most of it is gone.

He sighed, pulling her into his arms.
