The medics are arguing in the next room. Amarin seems intrigued by the sound of aggression and listens in with a mildly interested expression.

She raised an eyebrow before starting to gently pet him, starting up the angry squeaking again until she stopped petting him.
"Yeah, they're just normal lil bats. No offence though? I had a friend who had a taking parrot though they liked to squawk out swears. We have a bunch of rats in the lab though! Super friendly and very soft!"

Amarin cuts in, "Basically: down here, rats are killing machines. If you're a human, stay out of their way unless you fancy winding up like this." He taps his disabled leg for emphasis.
"Amarin!" Calliope scolds. "There is absolutely NO NEED to be so harsh about it. Never mind him, he's just bitter. But yes, rats...." She shakes her head. "Gnawers, as we call them. They are, to put it lightly, our enemies."
