Dream:
I look over at Destiny, glad my whole face was covered up now. for some reason, even as a child, I had felt more comfortable when people couldn't see me.
We come to the door of the building and I look back and forth between Ant and Destiny.
"Last one there's a rotten egg!" I shout, knowing I would win.
I use my powerful leg muscles, strong from walking so far. I tap the side of the truck under the awning, soaking wet. I turn around to wait for Destiny and Ant.

Ant:
I yelp in surprise as Dream shouts, seeing as I'm behind the others. I begin sprinting, but Dream quickly takes the lead ahead of Destiny and me.

Zak:
I look away from Alex.
"I'm sorry. About warding off your friends," I say softly. "I know I can be aggressive sometimes," I say, sitting down and rubbing my eyes.

Destiny:
Destiny doesn't waste her breath and succeeds in giving Dream a run for his money for a few seconds; alas, she was only a sprinter, and her surprising burst of speed fell flat half way there. She fell behind Dream but her steady pace was brisk and she reached the truck second. She didn't tap it, though, deciding she could allow Ant to touch it first. She didn't want him to be a rotten egg. She lifts her face to the rain and smiles, closing her eyes as the rain splashes against her face. She twirls once, giggling as her childish love of rain bubbles back up again.

Alex:
Alex shrugs and sits down next to Zak. "It's alright. Not your fault. It seems Nikkie can be aggressive, too, and we don't want you two butting heads and getting hurt." Alex laughs, "I feel bad for Payton; he seems to always get stuck with a fool. First me; now Nikkie." He then turns to Zak.
"How are you feeling?" Alex asks. He remembered that Zak had been sprouting diamonds and wanted to make sure Zak was still ok and the diamonds weren't hurting him too much. "Want something to eat? I bet I could go back to my house and make some corn tortillas. They'd be nice, warm, easy to make, yummy..."

Dream:
I shake my hood gently with my hand, attempting to get the water off. It's useless, and I'm soaked to the core and now freezing cold as well as sopping wet. It wouldn't bother me, if we weren't so far north. I've walked in worse conditions down in the south, but the cold just makes everything worse.

Ant:
I run up to the truck, clearly the last one there. I melt against the side of the truck and immediately begin shaking.
"Alright everyone, in the truck!" I say, hopping into the driver's seat. Dream slides into the seat behind me, tossing the wet bags in the seat next to him, leaving destiny to sit in the front.
"Buckle up, we're going on a road trip!" I cry excitedly.

Zak:
I shake my head, still refusing to look at Alex.
"No, I feel terrible. As soon as it stops raining, you should go find them," I say, my heart dissolving with sadness. The first person I meet in the apocalypse, and I'm going to cast them away.
"Besides, you were with Payton first. It's not fair that you abandon him for me," I say, trying not to let the sadness I feel leak into my voice. I attempt - and I'm pretty sure I fail - to sound like my normal cheery self.

Destiny:
When Destiny Ant's shaking, she asks him if he's alright. She nods when Ant says to get in the car and climbs into the seat beside Ant. She places the bags she had grabbed at her feet. She buckles up and looks out the window before popping around to look at the guys. "Oh! For our road trip can we..." Destiny pauses as she thinks things through. "Nevermind. I don't think others will be driving at this time. We couldn't play a game." She had been thinking of playing a road trip game but she realized that there'd have to be others driving and there weren't a lot of people still able to drive. She returned to looking out the window.

Alex:
Alex frowns while he listens to Zak. He didn't want Zak to be sad and he didn't want to leave Zak.
"If you're feeling terrible, I should stay with you to make sure you get better." Alex says, trying to get the point across that he wants to stay with Zak. If he had wanted Payton more than Zak, wouldn't Alex have told Payton to stay? If he hadn't been afraid for Zak's well being with the angry kitsune around, wouldn't Alex have allowed Nikkie to stay?
Alex looks anywhere but at Zak, "And Payton already has his hands full with Nikkie, I'd just get in the way and annoy him again. He'd explode once more and then I'd be without him, probably on the sharp end of one of Nikkie's knives, and without you." Alex says, slowly bringing his gaze back to Zak. He held his breath as he hoped Zak wouldn't force him to leave and go back with Payton. He figured he'd meet Payton again at some time. Payton had already agreed on seeing him later... however later it would be.

(Oh no D: Don't be sad, Zak, please)

Ant + Dream:
(Ant's POV)

We've driven for a while, and we're at the edge of town near a treehouse when the truck begins to sputter and slows to a stop. I lean forwards and tap the gas meter, that says we're still at half a tank. I realize what happened and I groan, sliding down into my seat.
"Ant?" Dream says from the back, looking away from a group of zombies outside the truck. "What's wrong?" he asks.
"The truck's gas meter is broken," I say worriedly. "It's stuck at half a tank, and we're out of gas. Dream straightens in his seat.
"Well, that may be a problem, but we have to go now," he says urgently. "The truck's been attracting zombies, I've noticed that over the last mile or so we've driven. If we wait here much longer we'll be completely surrounded," he notes while grabbing the bags next to him and handing them up to me.
"I say we go to that treehouse," Dream says, pointing at the structure in the distance, fuzzy because the windows are fogged with rain. He readjusts his mask. "Everyone ready?" he asks.
I nod and get ready to open the door and run.

Zak:
I wipe away the tears welling up in my eyes.
"Thanks," I say softly. I'm still looking at the ground, but I stand up and open my arms, silently asking for a hug.

Destiny:
Destiny listens to the two boys, nodding when they said to head to the tree hosue before the zombies came too close. She scrambles to grab the bags at her feet and unbuckle herself. When put under pressure, she tended to fumble and mess up. During a minute of her being a bit clumsy, she managed to unbuckle herself, grab the bags, lock the car door, and unlock the car door again. She laughs at herself and smiles apologetically to the two guys.
"Ready." She says, after which she opened the door to run out. The guys were closer to the treehouse than she was, the doors on their side being closer. It didn't hurt her chances of making it to the treehouse as much as it could have if she wasn't as fast as she was. She was worried that Ant wouldn't make it. He had been a bit slow on the way to the car; she didn't want him to be slow now and fall behind and into the zombie herd.

Alex:
Alex smiles and hugs Zak, glad that Zak didn't want to push him away. "You are very welcome." He beams.

Payton:
Payton hears the sounds of a car and decides to investigate. Unfortunately, the herd of zombies made that kind of impossible. He notices the zombies heading in the direction of the treehouse, where Alex was, and hoped his friend - he could still call Alex a friend, right? - was alright.

Dream+Ant:
(Dream's POV)

I slip easily out of the car, running as best I can in the wet and mud. I let Destiny's sprinter legs take a place in front of me, so I can keep an ear out for and. I hear a soft yelp from somewhere behind me. I turn to see that Ant's fallen. I turn back, take the bags from him, and then pick the buy up himself. I then begin running to the treehouse. Once I'm safely on the first platform halfway up the tree - not in the building but at a resting zone halfway - I set down Anthony.
"Are you alright?" I ask him. He shakes my head, tears welling up in his eyes.
"My ankle - it's messed up pretty bad. I stepped in a hole. The left one," I look at it, and I can see it's already beginning to swell.
"Don't bother feeling bad, it won't do you any good. I'll take you the rest of the way up, and we can check on it up there, okay?" I ask him. He nods. I just hope to god that it's not broken.

Zak:
I abruptly pull away from Alex.
"Do you hear that?" I ask quietly. "It sounds like people talking."

Destiny:
Destiny leans over the railing of the treehouse, calling down to the guys to see how things were going. "Is everything alright? Are you ok, Ant? Do you need help?" Despite it being her first time in a treehouse, the height and novelty of it didn't bother her. In fact, she rather enjoyed being up in a tree and watching the world below her. She scrambles down to the resting zone and perches next to Ant and Dream, again asking if she can do anything to help them. She takes a few bags from Ant and Dream and then bounces back up the tree to the main building. She smiles at the two boys, waiting for them to catch up. No, she wasn't impatient she was... eager to see what was inside.

Alex:
Alex frowns slightly, wishing he could hug Zak for longer. However, he listens for what Zak was talking about and he nods when he hears the talking. He decides to check it out and heads to the door. What's not to like about meeting new people? More possible friends, right? Or perhaps Payton had come back... no, it didn't sound like Payton or Nikkie. Alex then opens the door, "Hello?"
Destiny whirls around to face him, "Oh! Hi. How are you? You don't mind that we stop here for a little while, do you? We'll be off again when we can."
Alex swings open the door, ready to let the strangers in. Then he pauses and looks to Zak, double checking he had permission to give the newcomers entry.

Dream+Ant:
(Dream's Perspective)

I Hear Destiny chatting up above us.
"Destiny, can you come down here?" I ask. "Ant jacked up his ankle pretty bad and I dunno if I can carry him up, seeing as I carried him over here," I say, looking over at Ant.
"Are you alright?" I ask.
"Well, other than being in mass amounts of pain, I'm fine," He says with a shaky smile. His face is strangely pale, and I'm worried about him.
"Are you gonna be alright until we can get you up?" I inquire. He nods, but he seems unsure. "Don't be afraid if you pass out or vomit, it happens when people are in lots of pain. I won't judge, and I'm pretty sure Destiny won't either," I say, and he gives another shaky nod. I look back up, waiting for destiny to come down.

Zak:
"Of course you guys can come in, it's pouring down rain! What kind of question even is that," I grumble. I hear shouts from the middle platform down below us.
"Is everything alright? How many of you are there?" I ask, still a tiny bit sleepy as my sleep was continually interrupted,

Dream:
"Yep yep yep." Destiny hears Dreams call for help. She hums sadly when she hears that Ant had gotten hurt and apologizes for not having been there earlier to help him. She hands the bags to Alex for him to hold so that she would have her arms free to help. She hears Zak as she starts climbing down, so she pauses a moment to answer his question. "There's three of us. Ant got hurt and our car is out of gas, so not perfect and more on the alright side, leaning to the worse than alright. Actually, things could be worse and I dont want to jinx us, so alright sounds like a good word to describe things."
Then she's sliding down the tree. She's a bit clumsy, still not quite used to being in a tree, but she manages to reach Dream and Ant without falling out of the tree. She shakes her head in an attempt to get her sopping wet hair, which had found ways around the headband to annoy her, out of her eyes; however, all it seemed to do is get her face slapped by the many cold and stinging whips her hair turned into when wet. She gives up with a sigh and brushes it back with a hand, making sure to readjust her headband.
Destiny hears only the last part of the conversation with the boys when she drops down beside them. "Judge what? I won't judge if anything happens if that's what you're talking about." Destiny tries her best to carry Ant the rest of the way into the treehouse; she slipped and almost fell twice, but, apart from those couple heart stopping moments, she was fine and she completed her challenge with everyone in one piece.

Alex:
The bags caused his jacket to get damp and the cold that came with it almost instantaneously seeped into his jacket and chilled his chest. The sudden change in temperature from warm to cool made him shudder, forget how to breath for a few seconds, and almost drop the bags. He heads away from the door to give the others more room to enter and for him to be able to set the bags down. He grins at Zak, debating on whether he should go over and give Zak a hug. Even as the thought of doing it was forming, he already had come to a conclusion and knew he wouldn't do it.
Destiny came over and hugged Alex, continuing to soak him, and she thanked him for letting them stay. She heads to hug Zak next, but Alex interrupts her with a barely thought through comment to stop her but also not put a rain on her parade. Somehow he suceeds in keeping Destiny from getting Zak cold and wet and he wishes he had taken note of what he had said to use it for latter in case he had to do something like that again.
