"Okay." Gavin said and shrugged. He placed the pasta on the table while his mother set the table and food for Lilja and pulled a chair for her. Gavin went to get Lilja's cake and came back with a piece of almond caramel cake and set it next to the other food. The plates and bowls were white and had the design motif of boreal forest animals painted on them. "I just realized I haven't gotten your name yet. What was it?" Gavin's mother asked.

"Lilja...What a lovely name. My name is Annabelle Kampriad. My husband, who is also Gavin's father, name is Peter. Well, I'll leave you to your meal. I have to tend to the house and the other guests living here," Annabelle said. She gave Gavin a scolding look. "Gavin, behave. Don't be impolite and don't try to leave this house after what happened. I'll know." She left the room after that. Gavin didn't seem to be perturbed. "Oh well. Do you need anything Lilja?"

"Okay," Gavin said. "Let's play marbles, Gavin. Come on," Marsha said. They soon left the room, leaving Lilja alone to eat.

There was a knock on the door. "Hello? Is anyone in there? We just need to ask a couple questions and look around. We believe a wanted criminal is hiding in our town. Can you please open the door?" a male, slightly muffled voice said. "Alright, alright," a voice that was probably Peter's said. "I'm coming." There was the sound of him getting up from a chair and walking over to the door.
(Will Lilja be able to finish her food and evade capture? Find out next time when Ruby replies!)

Lilja stiffened and immediately stopped eating. She couldn't stay here, not anymore. She stood up, looking around for a window of sorts to escape from.
"I hope you have an empty stomach," she said and led Lilja to what looked like a dining room.
There was a long table with candles going down the length of it. A lone window framed by a set of curtains let in a pane of light inside the room.
"Sit where ever you like." She went over to another room. Gavin and Marsha came into the room. "Oh, I should help my ma," Gavin said and hurriedly went over to the room his mother just went to. Marsha looked uneasy and nervous until Gavin and his mother came back with a plate of spaghetti and meatballs and a bowl of soup with eating utensils. "Ma says I can give you some cake after I set this down. Where do you wanna eat?"
