"Damn millennials is right." Lucas muttered, taking a seat on a random chair. Kai sat down next to him, his blue eyes shimmering and wide.

"What if Superman sat in here before me?"

"Doubt it. He'd probably pick the spot where he seems the most important." Dee replied, dropping down onto the floor instead of sitting in a seat at the table. "I see you have a presentation for us Sarge."

"Call me Sarge one more time. I. Dare. You." The older man snarled, whacking his pointer in time to his words against the board.

"Sarge." Ben snickered, muffling his giggle. He froze, his laughter dying down by the intensity of Sergeant Sanders's glare.

"So are you our caretaker or something?" She wondered as Ben quieted down. "I mean, you don't seem too happy to be in charge of us... or whatever your job is." She glanced at the promethium board.

"Indeed." The sergeant puffed, brushing off the lapel of his coat, casting a wary glance about the room before backing away and to the side of the board, allowing the projector to begin. *Insert some history lesson on the heros, the plot again, and what they are to do with the vigilante, his unofficial nickname 'White-Owl', and their limited knowledge of the CoO.*

"That was... very thorough, Sarge..eant?" Dee said, but inside her heart felt as if it had dropped down and out of her rib cage. "You want us to protect the world from whatever threatens to destroy it in the future? And how do you possibly think a group of kids under the age of twenty five can do this?"

"I'm almost twenty-four?" Chris offered. No one replied and he slunk back down into his seat. "Fine, whatever," he muttered. Despite being one of the dullest tools in the shed, he made up for in strength and power, but no one could tell so far.

Lucas didn't miss a beat after Chris finished talking. "I'll do it." I have nowhere to go anyway. No home, no family. Nothing.

Meanwhile Kai didn't seem to have made up his mind. He had gotten up and was pacing back and forth. "What do we get out of it? What will our parents know? Why us? Why me? What if we die? Who are these... villains? What if I don't like these people?"

Sergeant pinched the bridge of his nose, his eyes half closed with frustration, "I'm your care taker, not your mother, get that through your thick skulls why don't you?" he said with a heavy sigh of disapproval.

"Not like I've got a choice." Both Kolivan and Gail seemed to mumble at the same time.

"Meh, I guess I'll do it. S'not like I got anything to look forward to really. I mean, we all are gonna die at some point, why not die a violent and gory death protecting the world, amirite?" The youngest of all of them said with a shrug, revealing his more... ah... morbid point of view-- and hoping to spook Kai.

Dee's eyebrows furrowed but she slowly nodded, trying not to make eye contact with the trembling Kai who sat in a chair nearby. "I'll do it too." She got up, the glanced around the conference room. "So... you're saying we're actually replacing the original Justice League So do we all have cool powers, or?"



((There's probably something that activates their powers, maybe an item from the trophy room? For example, _____ might have left something that belonged to their arch villain _____, so when it is touched a 'memory' is triggered and their powers surface?))

"Some of you already, either by accident, or by birth." When sergeant said the word accident, he glared at Ben, whom shrugged in response. The sergeant continued, "Kolivan, show them."

Kolivan groaned, getting up and out of his seat with a sigh. He walked sullenly up to the front of the room. Kolivan closed his eyes, fading out of view before becoming visible again.

((Yeet sure, like, Gail can only fly/have her weird powers if she touches the nth metal from her predeseccor, or ben can only vibrate through walls if he gets a hold of reverse flash's mask or something))

Dee's eyes widened slightly, but she her hands had now turned white from the strength of clutching them together. She blinked rapidly a few times, just as Kai rubbed his eyes from his seat. A sound echoes through the room, and the others turned to see that Chris had fallen out of his chair onto the floor.

Kolivan returned to his seat, just slumping over onto the desk like a ragdoll.

"What was your name again?" Ben asked, leaning over to the right.

"Kolivan."

"Oh, thought it was Claudius."

"Why would you--"

"Sorry what was that?"

"Are you deaf?"

"Eh, maybe." Ben shrugged.
