"You know your dragons." She nodded in approval. "I know Winter is a mix, but I'm still not sure what breeds are his parent breeds or what blood he has." Winter coiled up again, hissing at the boy. I was the only one of my kind in the caves when Sterling found me.

I wasn't in the caves. I was out in the snow, being rolled down the hill by the new hatchlings, who didn't like the looks of my egg, as it was glowing.

"That's how I rescued him, venom and all. He hatched in my home, by the fire grate."

I remember the day I took the egg from the big hatchlings who were bullying the poor, unhatched Shurikan.

I watch the other riders and dragons talk. I wonder if I should join in, but I dont seem to like them much.
*Emerald*
I blow a puff of smoke from my nostrils. So bored, bored, bored... I want to talk and explore, but then Alexis will be along. Im considering forcing her to socialize. But it probably wouldnt work.

*Shade (In The Form Of A Small Hatchling With Jet Black Scales And Emerald Eyes)*

"We... learn to fly!" I grin.

*River*

"I... don't know. My brother Flame will be there but I haven't seen him since we were newborns.." I sigh, a small ring of smoke curls nervously from my nostrils.

*Josh*

I look around, my emerald gaze cold as ice. I consider going around and meeting the others, I am the leader of this mission after all, but soon discard the idea.

"You weren't in the caves when you got him? Winter hatched as soon as I touched the egg." She smiled, remembering the day where she had taken the Walk.

"I was an orphan peasant boy; no one cared to bring me with. I found his egg simply by luck. He hatched once I warmed him up." I say, partly reliving that day in my mind.
" I had picked up the egg from the ground, and shoved away the rude little hatchlings. I went to the public bar, and sat by the fire until the little egg was warm. No one noticed him hatch. I took the egg outside right as the cap of the egg flew up, and a huge spew of acid hit me in the chest. I still have the mark." I tap my sternum, remembering the burning. Shurikan had licked it off me, saving my life.
"The scar is a ridge." I don't mention that it is shaped like a heart. That's the embarrassing part.

*Alexis*
I overhear the other riders talking about their dragons. I remember being so proud when Emerald hatched. She looked so fierce and determined. I cant imagine her being anything other than happy and enthusiastic now, though. But thinking of that brings up the sadness and desperation, too, when I realized my parents were gone. At least I have Emmy.
