Oh man, i seriously need a long education in tools. There's so many out there that i don't know about! I've only used basic writing tools and basic art supplies for traditional stuff most of my life, and the switch to digital just was cheaper than buying new tools over and over XD

Ah, I know, right? Drawing supplies can add up if one isn't careful. D:

When I started doing digital, I had only really ever drawn with a pencil. That being the case, I didn't feel much of a difference from the switch.

But now going from charcoal, ink, and paint to digital and vise versa feels so, so, so different. Since (1) these materials have a lot of texture, and (2) interact in very specific ways. Additionally, (3) I've been working with larger scaled drawings recently for traditional. For workflow, the larger scale of drawing traditionally is too difficult to replicate digitally.

I think I like traditional more when I focus on how I am using the materials rather than the subject that I am drawing. Versus for digital, I believe it's the opposite. xD

Ugh, i was looking at inking supplies, thinking 'ok, everyone's inktober pens are CLEARLY better than mine, what are they using', and while pens are one thing, copics are effin EXPENSIVE. Like, they're magical i hear, but $7 for a marker? *low whistle* i paid $6 for a shirt for a costume the other day, because it was cheaper, despite finding another shirt that was better for $14. I figure i'll wait till i have a place to store everything before that.

Yeah, it was mostly, ok, i'm not having my hand over what i'm drawing, also i can hit undo? Whoa. I still prefer it, which is why i don't do a lot of traditional anymore, there's certainly more challenges and reliance on my own abilities. Which is good, i can't be going soft now!

I TOTALLY get that, it's really hard to do abstract stuff with the digital seperation. I've never actually been good at that but whatever, it's still true. You can't feel how smooth vellum is under a pencil with a tablet, either, or get ink and graphite and paint all over your hands. That's a special and unique feeling.
