Photo of the month contest?

I was thinking we could have a small contest and wanted to see if members of the thread are interested or not. The idea would be for us to have a "Picture of the Month" which would be in the thread's first post. I suppose though by the time it's done it'd only be for a couple weeks so I would think let it cover for August as well?

Anyway, looking for if others think this is a fun idea or not. And if there's any ideas on how to run it.

I was sorta thinking that maybe everyone can submit one photo (has to be taken yourself). Maybe allow for a week for submissions? Pictures that have been posted in the thread already can be used. Then after that allow everyone one vote (can't be for themselves) to decide what they like. This could be anonymous if the vote is sent to me. Since I could see how the votes are going I can abstain from voting.

Also, if anyone has any other ideas for future contests or any other ideas for the thread itself feel free to let us know your idea!

That sounds like a great idea to me, Savynn.

It sounds fair that July and August would be combined too.

Perhaps if the person taking the votes changes from month to month? That would mean there wouldn't be one person who is excluded from entering at all but rather people just take a month off here and there.

I love the photo of the month idea. I don't think anyone would have to be excluded from participating, just one person wouldn't be able to vote since they're tallying them up.

I think its a great idea as well as rotating out who tallies the votes each round so that the same person doesn't have to sit out every time :3

Thank you everyone! It looks then that we can get this contest started. Hopefully this sounds good then. If anyone has any suggestions on how to improve the contest please let me know. I'm hoping this will be fun for everyone!

I'll be editing post 3 (and 4 if need be) to include all submitted photos.

Contest Rules
- Everyone may submit one photo. The time to enter will be from now through July 11th 11:59pm. You can change the submitted picture during this time as well if you change your mind.

- The photo has to be taken by you. It could be anything to do with your garden including critters.

- Starting July 12th, everyone but me will have one vote. You can not vote for your own photo. Votes will be submitted to me, Savynn, anonymously. Voting ends July 18th at 11:59pm. Please title your message with "vote" in it.

- The winning photo will be the "Photo of the Month". It'll be in the first post of the thread for the remainder of July and all of August.

Also, is it worth putting a rule in place that people shouldn't vote for their own photo so that we potentially don't have every photo with 1 vote?

The rule about not voting for your own photo is already there but I can make it more prominent?

I've decided to enter a picture of our 'crested', or 'fasciated' tomato, since that's likely not going to happen again anytime soon to take a picture of. XD
