Technically it's your auction you can make the rules for that (i think)

However personally i wouldn't feel right bidding knowing i don't have the diamonds now and then paying later. Unless the other bidders are fine with that, i won't bid.

Yeah, that's why i would bid 5k in diamonds if the other bidders didn't think it was fair to do the IOU (bid doesn't count unless the others are fine with it)
