His wolf sat a few paces away, watching her with intelligent golden eyes. "I would like to speak with you," the prince said without preamble. "Alone. Will you walk with me a bit?"

She didn't say anything else either.

He cleared his throat. "I'm pretty sure that this is a bad time to bring this up, but they say that if you walk in any direction long enough that you'll hit the Briars."
