After she opened her eyes, she could see that the room was dark, empty. Faery light filtered through the window, casting everything in blue and silver. As usual, the air was icy cold. A dream, then. As the mist that had been swirling around her head for so long finally cleared, it left her devastatingly awake and aware. It was a dream, after all.

She'd come out of her lovely darkness for nothing. She probably wanted to retreat, to return to the oblivion where nothing could hurt her, but now that she was awake, she couldn't go back.

"We're in the Nevernever."

Too late now. She sits up groggily, looking around.

" obviously, but where exactly? "

Isiea had to be willing them to freeze inside her, to freeze everything inside her. Emotions, tears, memories, anything that made her weak. Because if she was going to play in the Unseelie Court, she had to be made of ice. No, not ice. Like iron.

"No idea. Why?"

She's already done that. But it's not like she can will herself to not be poisoned. That's not how that works.

" Then we're lost, aren't we? "

Then it hadn't taken much time to get rid of everything that could be used against her. At that moment, Tiaothin walked into the room. She blinked, obviously astonished to see her awake, before breaking into a huge grin, fangs shining in the moonlight. "You're up!" she exclaimed, bouncing over and leaping onto her bed. "You're awake. Thats a relief. Mab's been annoyed and cranky ever since you collapsed. She thought you were going to sleep forever, and then she'd have a devil of a time explaining your condition to the Seelie courtiers when they come for the Exchange."



"Not lost. If we walk in one direction for long enough, we'll get out eventually. Probably. Maybe."

"How long was I unconscious?"

" that's not reassuring. "

"Quite a few days. Summer is finally over, and winter is on the way." She kept jumping around on the bed
