The roots seem to be helping to make gaps in her cheekbones, presumably for the second pair of eyes. It's... not pleasant, to say the least.

When she wakes up, she's still in the orb thing. But, the sap is gone. The roots are still there, suspending her in the air, but they've become brittle and she can easily get them off.
