Sonic dove under one of the jets, trying to see if there was anyone else around.
"I don't like this...." Rookie murmured. He attempted to climb into the functional jet, but failed. "I'm gonna go find a ladder," he said, running off.
Knuckles froze suddenly, he looked around and broke into a sprint.

Sonic's ears perked up as he recognized the voice. "It's ok Pearl! They're friends!" He said, getting up from under the plane. Gadget saw him and ran over. "Hey Sonic!" He greeted, tail waving. "Long time no see Gadget!" Sonic replied.
"Sorry, but I don't have time to chat. Trouble on Angel Island," Gadget said
"Yeah. Infinite. I know. He's gone for now." Sonic replied.
"Wait-- you fought him again?!"
"Yep. Shadow and Knux too. Knocked the echidna out cold earlier. He's fine now though,"
"What did he want?"
"The Master Emerald, I think,"
"The what now?"
"Right, you've never been up there. Maybe I could show you later. But for now, first things first, and this goes for you too Rouge. We're gathering up some folks to help us track down Infinite and put a stop to this once and for all."
"But didn't we beat him already?"
"Yes, but apperantly we didn't kill him. And Knuckles told us that the Phantom Ruby is stronger than the M.E., so we have our work cut out for us. You guys care to assist?" Sonic offered.

Gadget nodded. "We beat him once, we'll do it again!" He cheered, boxing the air to as if to show he meant business (again, it came off as lame). "I like that enthusiasm!" Sonic commented.
