The shop keeper hands you the blanket and when you turn to leave you see the streets are deserted.

I frown This must be the time of day they say everyone goes inside. I decide to look for the place where all the animals are kept. perhaps I can get some milk. or figure out whats going on.

i open it and walk out to find the trader

You don't see anything, but you think you see something running up a wall, most likely a squirrel.

The streets are empty again and as you walk to the traders, you trip over something poking out of the meadows ground.

i look down to see what it is

You see the dirty corner of what looks like a box poking out of the dirt

The squirrel disappears over the top of a building before you can reach it

I look around the stalls maybe there's one that sells meat?

You look and see one stall selling 'fresh' meat, though it looks like it had been sitting out for a week.
