"What else would I be?" Kaladin replied.

"How would I know I can only see out of one eye." Kempari turned to his right to reveal a missing eye, "That happened when Black Beard attack my island home, Calico rescued me."

"Point taken." Kaladin replied. "In that case, yes, I am an echidna. Though I wonder why you ask."

Void nodded,"And do it quickly.." she told him goig back to her quarters.

Tarabithia looked from the crow's nest."Island in sight!" she holloweed down to her crew.

The moth made the same noise,"They're worried about you tho" it told him

"My parents told me about them that are powerful warriors and heros of the tribes. The island I am," Kempari corrected," no was from was completely destroyed by Black Beard. I also remember echindas are not sailors so how did you get here?"

Holt shook his head, I would rather run wild then go back.

"I'm with Selkie. He washed up on the shores of my homeland, and I offered to come with him, help find his crew." Kaladin replied, icy demeanor form earlier gone.

"That's part of the reason. The other part... a certian Void has made a threat against my people. I was hoping I could get to the mainland and find about more about her, so we can defend.... but I didn't realize just how vast everywhere else is." He trailed off here, refusing to say more on the topic

"Is Selkie a good otter or is he like the otters from the stories I heard from the crew," Kempari asked.

"It depends. What have you been told?" Kaladin asked. Though there was no doubt in his mind that Selkie was a 'good' mobian, he was starting to wonder if he was missing something.

"It was thought Sea Otters were cursed by River otters when the clan was divided by two brothers one a farmer who lived by the river the other a fisherman who lived for the sea. If I remember the story correctly there a drought and famine occured the two brothers were the sons of the chief and argued about what to do. Their father was ill and dying he told the brothers they should lead the clan together. The fighting between them got worse and the clan members were forced to chose sides. One brother wanted to go to the sea saying the land would not take them any more and that the sea was their salvation the other brother said the land would sustain them. Both sent out scouts and only one came back. It was a scout from the land. The one brother wanted to stay near the river while the other took the clan that followed him and left for the sea. The brother who stayed threatened that if they left they could never come back and laid a curse on the sea otters and their decsendants. From that day on there were Sea Otters and River Otters." Kempari told the story.
