They do not match the pup tracks. they look more like deer or perhaps rabbit.
Follow them in hopes of getting food or perhaps being lead to water but stay wary and make sure the pups are following

you climb up and manage to get faifrly high up. in fact the other tree's branches are close enough to the tree your in that it creates a large little safe nook.
I carefully set my items down so that they're safely tucked in the branches and try to fall asleep.
