Shadow ran with the kits. She didn't stop but looked behind her shoulder at the den even when it disappeared from sight. She stopped when she found a place to hide.

Korak gently put the kits in the curve of Kara's stomach when they wandered off and started whimpering. He sighed and covered Kara with a blanket as best as he could without suffocating the kits. He curled around her, careful to place his paws so that he would keep the kits from wandering off again.
