Sophia was silent for a moment, shakily holding the key out. Then she pulled it closer to herself, starting to cry as she covered her eyes with a hand, trying to wipe away her tears.

Justice went on all fours and walked over between her and the cliff, claws digging into the dirt to keep from falling as he gingerly nudged her leg to get her away from the edge.
Jasper moved back a little for her. "Please."

Sophia hesitantly stepped forward, away from the edge. She still held onto the key tightly, refusing to let go. She wiped away her tears, not meeting anyones eyes.

Basil walked forward, Sophia seeming nervous about her getting closer. Then Basil hugged her, much to Sopghia's surprise.
"I thought you where going to jump," Basil whispered as she gently rubbed Sophia's back.
(I have decided that you probably need to know what's going on. Your characters won't know, but you might as well know xD. Sophia and Basil dated for a bit, until Basil******d Sophia. Sophia left the relationship, but realized later on she was pregnant. She's about 3 months pregnant *licks paw*... which explains her mood swings (suddenly crying) and her hesitance to jump off the cliff)

Justice sat near the edge, making sure no one went off the edge that he'd have to jump after.
Jasper stepped back to let Basil hug Sophia, he so shipped it.

(I know, I like to make sure that my pieces all fit together, even if I don't know what the big picture of the plot is (I have figured it out though xD). Also... Sophia still loves Basil, but won't admit it for reasons which will be revealed)
The hug lasted awhile. Sophia had stopped crying by now and it was easy for Basil to pry the stone away from her.
"Please don't," Sophia said as she tried to grab the key, which Basil only handed to Birch.
